N300 Million Allegation: FCE Eha-Amufu Demands Immediate Apology, Retraction from Sahara Reporters

… Says Allegation Outrageous Lies

The Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, Enugu State, Nigeria, demands an instant apology and retraction from Sahara Reporters over scandalous lies it hawked in a viral report against the College and the Provost of the institution, Prof. (Mrs.) Pauline Ngozi Ikwuegbu.

Sahara Reporters had spread unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, groundless, appalling and shocking lies on its online publication on February 13, 2026 against FCE Eha-Amufu Provost, Prof. (Mrs.) P. N. Ikwuegbu, saying she allegedly “diverted high-end government vehicles worth over N300 million to her private school and garage.”

Also in the viral report, it lied that out of the three buses procured, only one bus reached FCE Eha-Amufu while “the remaining two buses were diverted to the Provosts private school.” Particularly, Sahara Reporters lied that the institution procured a brand-new, black Toyota Prado in the year 2022, but that the vehicle has never been used as an official car by the College.

Sahara Reporters claim “it’s parked and driven by the Provost as her private vehicle.” They went further to state that “there is no record in the institution’s works/transport section showing that the Prado was ever assigned to any official department.”

All these false allegations are but a condescending fabrication of lies and as usual, without any verification, the fake news, spread like wildfire on social media over the past few days.

It is equally on record that Sahara Reporters never visited the College for fact finding mission, nor interviewed the Provost to find out her own side of the fake story that they were hawking.

In journalism, objectivity should be the watch-word as well as balance and fair hearing, they never did any of this before publishing their phony news.

Yet, First, the record must be put straight, therefore, let us tackle the muscle of lies reported in the aforementioned piece one after the other.

Sahara Reporters claimed that Prof. Ikwuegbu diverted two government buses to her personal school, while only one vehicle was sent to the College, FCE Eha-Amufu.

While this is quite sidesplitting, it is necessary to inform Sahara Reporters and the general public that the contract supply of three 15-seater mini-buses (HRNB) to Oversoom Global Investment Services Limited in the year 2023 was a Constituency Project.

In the Constituency Project, as is the norm, FCE Eha-Amufu simply served as a supervisory agency to ensure that the constituency project was carried out diligently. Those 3 buses were meant for 3 different institutions in Enugu State. Below are attached evidence to show this exact claim.

Sahara Reporters in its calculated mischief equally stressed that the Provost took 2 vehicles to her personal school. This roguish and double-dealing assertion is pure lies because the 3 buses procured during the 2023 constituency capital project were allocated to the following institutions:

1. FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, EHA-AMUFU, Enugu State

2. NASFAT NASRUL-LAHI-L-FAITH SOCIETY, Ibagwa-Aka, Enugu State

3. AL-IKHLAS INSTITUTE, Ibagwa-Aka, Enugu State

This is to debunk the outright falsehood that was spread by Sahara Reporters that two of the buses were diverted to the Provosts personal school.

Any individual can go to the above-mentioned schools and verify if the vehicles are there or not, since 2023.

Please, go and verify!

Below are the allocation papers, delivery papers/report and images of the 3 buses in their present locations.

While one can easily see the similarity among the 3 buses through the images above, it is also important to note that there are videos showing the Directors of the 2 Schools, AL-IKHLAS INSTITUTE, Ibagwa-Aka, Enugu State and NASFAT NASRUL-LAHI-L-FAITH SOCIETY, Ibagwa-Aka, Enugu State acknowledging receipt of the buses since 2023 as a Constituency Project benefit.

They equally made available their contact details in the video recorded so that those that wish to verify can reach them easily.

These videos will also be circulated and made available to the public.

This is what fair and balance journalism is about. This is what was expected from Sahara Reporters before dishing out a forged chronicle to the general public and trying to tarnish the image of our Chief Executive.

It’s also ridiculous to insinuate by Sahara Reporters that the Provost, Prof. (Mrs.) Pauline Ngozi Ikwuegbu procured a brand-new, black Toyota Prado in the year 2022, and the vehicle has never been used as an official car by the College. Claiming that the vehicle was parked and driven by the Provost as her private vehicle. Further stating that there is no record in the institution’s works/transport department showing that the Prado was ever assigned to any official department.

Indeed, it is unfortunate that Sahara Reporters have descended so low into gutter journalism. The said vehicle was approved for procurement and use for the Provost by the Governing Council of our institution. Sahara Reporters should do themselves good by verifying from the College.

Well, it is obvious that what Sahara Reporters failed to understand is that a federal institution is run through established regulations and processes. Therefore, to set the record straight, the vehicle referenced in the report was procured strictly in line with the established institutional and public procurement regulations.

During the 100th Meeting of the 6th Governing Council of FCE Eha-Amufu which held on September 11, 2021, the then Governing Council approved the procurement of an official vehicle for the Provost, after the report presentation from the Finance & General Purposes Committee (F&GPC) of the College.

Sahara Reporters should have known that official vehicles assigned to principal officers, including the Provost, are part of standard administrative provisions in Nigerian public service and remain on the asset register of the institutions.

It is therefore laughable and quite disturbing that Sahara Reporters would assume that the Provost, Prof. (Mrs.) Pauline Ngozi Ikwuegbu bought a vehicle, then parked it and started using it as a personal vehicle. Quite confusing. Is she no longer entitled to an official car? Will Sahara Reporters now leave their yellow and gutter journalism model and start driving the official vehicle for the Provost? Quite appalling!

Therefore, this is to state categorically that the Provost of Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, Prof. (Mrs.) Pauline Ngozi Ikwuegbu, did not, at any time, divert any bus to any private school.

The 3 buses have been in the custody of Nasfat Nasrul-Lahi-L-Faith Society, Ibagwa-Aka, Enugu State, Al-Ikhlas Institute, Ibagwa-Aka, Enugu State and FCE Eha-Amufu as part of the 2023 Constituency Project monitored by our institution.

Please, go to these schools and verify if in doubt.

Therefore, it is pertinent that Sahara Reporters must know that what they are doing is not journalism but calculated harm and in clear terms, yellow journalism. They are simply irresponsible and must be called to order. A media house of its reach cannot be allowed to run without penalties when it engages in conducts that are unscrupulous, unethical, seditious, defamatory, inflammatory and malicious.

FCE Eha-Amufu therefore calls for the following without vagueness:

1. A public and unreserved apology from Sahara Reporters to the general public, Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu and particularly, the Provost, Prof. (Mrs.) Pauline Ngozi Ikwuegbu whose name was maligned, smeared and defamed severely by the fake news dished out by Sahara Reporters.

2. An immediate retraction of the false news with the same prominence with which the original story, earlier carried by them, was hawked.

3. A call to media regulatory authorities (Nigerian Press Council) to look into this breach and impose appropriate sanctions to deter future misconduct. Else, FCE Eha-Amufu will take this, up to the appropriate authorities and will never let it slide.

The general public is therefore, urged to ignore the baseless fake news that was peddled by Sahara Reporters and tagged “N300 Million Scandal Rocks FCE Eha- Amufu as Provost Allegedly Diverts Govt Vehicles to her Private School.” Sahara Reporters have built a reputation not as a beacon of truth but as a factory of fake news.

Our College is progressing, the Provost is working and the staff and students are resolute. We are not deceived to think that these detractors, mudslingers and jingoists will relent in the generation of negative energies. However, we are encouraged in the knowledge that light cannot be conquered by darkness.

The College assures the general public that there is peace, progress, development, and remarkable advancement ongoing in Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu.
