May 19, 2026

A humanitarian gesture by Diplomat Dauda Stanley Babi has brought relief and renewed hope to a student of Gombe State University living with a mobility disability, as a tricycle donated by the diplomat was officially presented by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta.

The beneficiary, Ahmed Musa Hassan, a 100-level student of the Department of Library and Information Science, had been experiencing challenges navigating the university campus due to his mobility condition.

Presenting the tricycle on behalf of the donor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta commended the generosity and compassion demonstrated by Diplomat Dauda Stanley Babi, describing the donation as a timely intervention that would significantly improve the student’s mobility, comfort, independence, and overall academic experience within the university environment.
The Vice Chancellor reaffirmed the University’s commitment to promoting inclusiveness, accessibility, and equal opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). He disclosed that the University has already initiated discussions towards the provision of a reasonable number of motorised tricycles to support students with mobility disabilities across the campus.
Professor Yauta further directed the Directorate of Advancement and the Public Relations Office to continue and see to the conclusion of discussions he had already initiated with some individuals, in order to fast-track the engagements and mobilise support for the initiative, which is aimed at establishing a sustainable mobility support system for students with physical disabilities.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the proposed initiative will ensure that students with mobility impairments have access to motorised tricycles while on campus to aid their movement and participation in academic and social activities. The tricycles are expected to remain the property of the University so that other eligible students can benefit from them in the future. He noted that the initiative forms part of the University’s broader vision of creating a more inclusive, supportive, and conducive learning environment for all students, irrespective of physical limitations.

Dr. Zainab Tijjani, who led the delivery of the donation, expressed optimism that the tricycle would greatly ease the student’s movement and enable him to participate more actively and confidently in both academic and social engagements within the University community.

18th May 2026

Gombe State University (GSU) has further strengthened its profile in international academic and medical collaboration following last week's courtesy visit by a delegation of medical specialists from Ain Shams University, Egypt.

The delegation, made up of expert urologists led by Professor Tarek Osman, carried out specialised surgical procedures at Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, while also providing hands-on clinical training, mentorship, and professional support to medical personnel.

The medical outreach forms part of the ongoing tripartite partnership between Ain Shams University, Gombe State University, and Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, established through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 to promote staff exchange, collaborative medical research, specialised training, and professional capacity development.

They commended the leadership of Gombe State University for its commitment to advancing medical education and healthcare delivery through strategic international partnerships.

The delegation further disclosed that, prior to the current mission, three batches of GSU medical personnel had already benefited from specialised professional training programmes in Egypt, including a recent two-month exchange programme involving two medical doctors.

As part of their itinerary, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University and were received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Danladi Mohammed Umar, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta.
