FG Bans Admission & Transfer of Students Into SS3 Nationwide

The Federal Government has announced a ban on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) in all public and private secondary schools across Nigeria. This policy will take effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Education, the move is aimed at tackling the rising incidence of examination malpractice, especially the use of so-called special centres during external exams like WAEC and NECO practices that undermine the integrity and credibility of the education system.

Under the new directive:
📍 Admission and transfer will now be allowed only into SS1 and SS2.
📍 No student will be admitted or transferred directly into SS3 under any condition.
📍 School owners, principals, and administrators have been directed to fully comply, and violations may attract sanctions under existing education regulations.

The Ministry explained that the policy is intended to discourage last-minute movement of students for examination advantages, ensure proper academic monitoring, and promote continuity in teaching and learning.

ASUU to Begin Indefinite Nationwide University Strike Starting This Friday

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced that it will commence an indefinite nationwide strike starting Friday, 22nd November 2025, following unresolved issues with the Federal Government.

According to the union, the government’s recent 35% salary increase offer was rejected, as ASUU insists the proposal does not address their long-standing demands.
This development comes shortly after the two-week warning strike in October, which was originally meant to prompt serious renegotiation but failed to yield a final agreement.

ASUU says its key demands remain:

Full implementation of the 2009 FG–ASUU agreement

Improved university funding

Better working and learning conditions

Clear action on outstanding salary arrears and earned allowances

The union added that academic activities will remain suspended until further notice if their core issues are not addressed.

15,000 Candidates Forged Admission Letters to Qualify for NYSC Mobilisation — JAMB

The Registrar of JAMB, Is‑haq Oloyede, revealed that 15,000 candidates forged their admission letters in order to become eligible for NYSC mobilisation.
He made this disclosure during the 2025 Batch C pre-mobilisation workshop in Abuja.

Key points:

The forgery was discovered after JAMB’s records audit and cross-verification with tertiary institutions.

JAMB confirmed that 17 deputy vice-chancellors, several deputy registrars, and four JAMB staff are in custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over their alleged involvement.

The director-general of NYSC, Olakunle Nafiu, warned that forged credentials, multiple registrations, and identity theft are serious threats to the integrity of the mobilisation process.

Takeaway for Graduates & Students:

Verify your admission letter and your name on the matriculation list before registration or mobilisation.

If you submit forged documents, you may face legal prosecution and disqualification from NYSC mobilisation or other official processes.

Always use authorised channels to confirm your admission status and mobilization eligibility.

JAMB EXTENDS ADMISSION DEADLINE FOR PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES TO NOV 17, 2025

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially extended the deadline for the 2025 admission process at public universities. The new deadline is now Monday, 17 November 2025, moving from the previous target of 31 October 2025.

This extension was granted following appeals from university administrators and regulatory bodies, citing reasons such as a court order that halted admissions temporarily and the accreditation of new programmes that needed to be accommodated.

It’s important to note: this extension applies to public universities only. The deadlines for private universities and other tertiary institutions (polytechnics, colleges of education) remain as previously set.

Student Threatens ₦500 Million Lawsuit Over Alleged “Fake Admission”

A 200-level law student at Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Akinlolu Richard Omisade, is demanding ₦500 million in damages from the institution over an admission he describes as “fake.”

According to a letter submitted to the Vice-Chancellor’s office, signed by his lawyer Abdulfatai Abdulsalam, the student was offered admission to study law via an admission letter dated 16 August 2024. However, when checking the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal, the student’s name did not appear among the admitted cohort for the institution.

The petition alleges that the university failed to forward the student’s details to JAMB for proper registration — an act the lawyer says could amount to “fraudulent exploitation of unsuspecting citizens by issuing unverifiable admission letters.”

The student’s lawyer gave the institution three working days to regularise the matter or face legal action, and has copied the case to the National Universities Commission (NUC), JAMB and the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

When contacted, the university’s public relations office, represented by Olaniyi Adekanye, said the institution is “engaging the student’s parents to resolve the issue in his best interest” and urged patience.

Important Notice to All Students:

Always confirm your admission on the official JAMB Matriculation List to ensure it’s genuine and recognized.
👉 Check here: https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/CheckMatriculationList

If your name is not on the matriculation list, it means your admission was not officially approved by JAMB, and this can lead to serious consequences, including:

1. You won’t be eligible to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) after graduation.
2. Your admission or certificate may be considered invalid by regulatory bodies.

Takeaway for Students & Parents:

1. Always check your name on the JAMB portal after admission offers.
2. Only accept admission letters where your details have been formally forwarded and approved by the relevant authority (like JAMB).
3. Report any irregularities promptly, especially if your name is missing from offi

ASUU Suspends Its Two-Week Warning Strike: Gives Government One-Month Window

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended the two-week warning strike it declared on 13 October 2025.
According to ASUU President Chris Piwuna, the union made this decision after an emergency National Executive Council meeting that ran into the early hours, and following “useful engagements” with government representatives.

Here are the key points:

The strike was originally declared to press the Federal Government to fulfil outstanding items in the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement — including payment of salary arrears, promotion arrears, revitalisation of public universities, and protection of lecturers from victimisation.

ASUU says it noted progress in the government’s responses and therefore decided to pause the strike to allow further negotiation, but warned that if the government fails to act within a one-month timeframe, the industrial action could resume without further notice.

The suspension is not a full return to normalcy yet: lectures and academic activities will resume subject to individual university decisions and campus readiness. ASUU emphasised that its members remain on alert.
