Federal Polytechnic Idah Appoints New Heads for Building Technology and Foundry Engineering Departments.
The Federal Polytechnic Idah has approved the appointment of new units leadership for its Department of Building Technology and Department of Foundry Engineering, as part of efforts to strengthen academic and administrative activities within the institution.
In a letter dated 6th September, 2026, the Polytechnic under the leadership of our dynamic Rector, Dr. Y.B. Usman approved the appointment of Bldr. Koko Richard Akporo as the Head, Department of Building Technology, following an election conducted on 28th August, 2026, in which he emerged victorious.
The appointment, approved by the Rector, Dr. Y. B. Usman, takes effect from 14th September, 2026 and is for a period of three years, with no immediate renewal.
As Head of Department, Bldr. Akporo is expected to provide academic and administrative leadership to the department, serve as Chairman of the Departmental Board, represent the department on the Academic Board, and supervise teaching, research and other departmental activities. He will also perform other duties assigned by the Dean, School of Environmental Studies, or the Rector.
Similarly, the Polytechnic has appointed Mr. Ikani Friday O. as Acting Head, Department of Foundry Engineering, with effect from 14th September, 2026, pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Department.
According to the letter dated 18th September, 2026, Mr. Ikani will provide academic and administrative leadership to the department, serve as Chairman of the Departmental Board, represent the department on the Academic Board, and serve as Chief Examiner of the Department.
He will also supervise teaching, research and other departmental activities and perform additional duties assigned by the Dean or the Rector.
The letters conveyed the institution's congratulations to both and wished them success in their respective leadership roles.
