Breaking News: Joy in Oyo State as Abducted Pupils and Teachers Freed After 56 Days in Captivity!

In a moment of immense relief for families, the Oyo State Government, security agencies, and the entire nation, all the pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026, have been safely released.

Armed attackers invaded three schools,Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, L.A. Primary School, and Community Grammar School in Esiele/Ahoro-Esiele communities, kidnapping approximately 39 pupils (including a two-year-old) and 7 teachers, totaling around 46 victims. One teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was tragically killed shortly after the abduction. The victims endured over 50 days in captivity in a challenging forest terrain within the Old Oyo National Park area.

The incident sparked widespread outrage, protests, a teachers’ strike and intense pressure on the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde and federal authorities. Security forces, including the Nigerian Army and Police, mounted sustained operations, with the Army Chief recently reporting “tremendous progress.”

Multiple reports and widespread social media confirmations from today, indicate the victims have been rescued alive. Videos and photos circulating show emotional reunions or the freed individuals. No immediate reports of further casualties among the hostages. Security operatives are said to have made arrests related to the incident.

Governor Makinde and federal agencies had repeatedly vowed to secure their safe return, pursuing every lead while denying ransom payments in official statements (though details of the final resolution remain emerging).
This development brings closure to a traumatic ordeal that highlighted security challenges in schools and rural areas. Families, the Oyo community, and Nigerians across the country are celebrating this positive outcome.

Further official briefings from the Oyo State Government, Police, or Army are expected soon for full details on the rescue operation and victim welfare.

Your progress may not always be visible, but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

Success isn’t built overnight—it’s built through the small decisions you make every single day.

Every page you read.
Every assignment you complete.
Every scholarship application you submit.
Every time you choose discipline over excuses…

You’re getting closer to the future you dream of.

Remember, you don’t have to be perfect to succeed. You just have to keep going.

💙Keep learning.
💙Keep growing.
💙Keep believing.
