OSPOHAS Football Team Defeats OOU, Advances to GATIG 2026 Semi-Finals
The Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences (OSPOHAS) male football team has secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Gateway Tertiary Institutions Games (GATIG) after defeating Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in the quarter-final stage.
The OSPOHAS boys put up an impressive performance, displaying determination, teamwork and tactical discipline to overcome their university opponents and progress to the last four of the football competition.
Speaking after the victory, the Sports Director of OSPOHAS, Mr. Olumide Ajose, expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the Governing Council Asiwaju Kunle Kalejaye and the Rector Dr Rasaki Yinka Akinbo for their commitment and support towards the institution’s participation in the games.
He noted that their support has provided the team with the necessary encouragement and resources to compete effectively at the tournament, describing the participation as an important platform for showcasing the talents and sporting abilities of OSPOHAS students.
Mr. Ajose commended the players and technical team for their dedication and fighting spirit, urging them to remain focused as they prepare for the semi-final encounter.
The victory has further heightened excitement within the OSPOHAS contingent, with students and officials looking forward to another strong performance from the team as the competition progresses.
With a semi-final ticket secured, the OSPOHAS male football team will now turn its attention to the next challenge, with hopes of advancing to the final and bringing home the championship glory.
