BRIEF HISTORY OF TASCE

The Tai Solarin College of Education, established as the first tertiary institution in Ogun State in 1978 as “Ogun State College of Education” then, took off with an initial students’ intake of 187 for the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). The College was re-named after the late Dr. Tai Solarin who died on 27th July, 1994 by the State Government for his laudable co

ntributions to the development of education in Nigeria. The College was initially sited at Ijagun, via Ijebu-Ode but now relocated to its present site in Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State

The College is located in Omu-Ijebu, Odogbolu local Government Area of Ogun State. The Campus falls at approximately between Latitude 742006.971N and 740410.109N and Longitude 593688.282E and 595636.462E. It is within the boundary of Ogun and Lagos States and accessible through Ala-Omu road to the Lagos State boundary.

OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT DECLARES TUESSDAY 3RD FEBRUARY, 2026 PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR OGUN @ 50 CELEBRATIONS

This is to inform the entire College Community that Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has declared Tuesday 3rd February, 2026 a public holiday across the State to commemorate the 5oth Anniversary of the creation of Ogun State.

It will be recalled that Ogun State was created on February 3, 1976. Meanwhile, the Ogun State Governor urged all the residents to participate in the activities lined up to mark the golden jubilee creation of the State.

The Governing Council Chairman, Prince Adewole Sowole, and the College Provost, Dr. Modupe Ayodele Oba-Adenuga wish all staff and students a happy celebration.
