The College of Health Sciences and Technology is a Public Tertiary Institution established by Ekiti State Government. It evolved from the erstwhile School of Health Technology, Ijero-Ekiti. The defunct School was established in 1997 after the creation of Ekiti State on 1st October 1996.

Academic Programmes commenced formally in January 1999, with two Courses i.e. Community Health Extension Workers in- Training and Junior Community Health Extension Workers-in-Training with a population of Eighty-two (82) Students.
On 2nd January 2000, the Institution introduced the following four additional courses:-
(i) Medical Laboratory Technicians-in Training.
(ii) Pharmacy Assistants-in-Training
(iii) Medical Records Technician-In-Training
(iv) Environment Health-Assistants-in-Training Programmes.
The number of programmes in the College increased to Twenty (20) in the 2013/2014 Academic Session. There are professionals Councils and Boards regulating each of the Professional Courses being run in the College.
At present, there are 26 Courses of study out of which, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) had visited the College in an attempt to grant accreditation to 6 Courses. The courses are:-
(i) Environmental Health Technology, (ND)
(ii) Public Health Nursing (OND).
(iii) Health Information Technology
(iv) Statistic (ND)
(v) (ND) Science Laboratory Technology
(vi) Human Nutrition and Dietetics (ND)
The implication of this is that students that would be admitted into these courses would sit for Joint Admissions and Matriculation Boardβs (JAMB) Examination and pursue their National Diploma and Higher National Diploma respectively; thereby qualifying them for National Youth Service (NYSC) Certificates.
Apart from the foregoing, Remedial, Part-time and Affiliate programmes are also available in the College. These programmes have continued to offer admission opportunities to prospective applicants.

The Status of the College was upgraded by Ekiti State law No 3 of 2010 passed by Ekiti State House of Assembly and assented to by the former Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi on 21st January, 2011.
Consequently, its Academic and Administrative autonomy was enhanced. This had equally made it possible for the inauguration of the First Governing Council of the College. The First Governing Council headed by Mrs. Monisola M. Oloro between 1st August 2011 to 11th October, 2014.

The College now parades an array of qualified Full and Part-time Academic Staff as well as Non-Academic Staff. It has Conditions and Schemes of Service like other Tertiary Institutions It uses the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Schemes of Service. The present Management has evolved strong and enduring administrative structures that facilitate Human Resources and Capital Development. These are efforts steadily and constantly being made towards achieving the vision and the mission of the College
