Yesterday, 23rd September 2026, Iwo College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ameree, Iwo, held an orientation programme for newly admitted students for the 2026/2027 academic session. The programme was organised to welcome the new intakes, introduce them to campus life, and highlight the academic, professional, and progression opportunities available at the college.
Welcome Address and Dual Certification
The Provost welcomed the new students and expressed joy at their decision to build careers in health education. It was emphasised that choosing the college is a strong step toward a professional future in the health sector.
A major highlight of the orientation was the dual certification benefit available to graduates. Upon completion of their programmes, students will graduate with:
· a National Diploma (ND); and
· a professional licence to practise as medical practitioners.
This means graduates receive both an academic qualification and a professional practice licence, strengthening their employability, professional recognition, and readiness for medical practice.
Direct Entry and Academic Progression
The orientation also explained that the certificates earned at the college provide a seamless pathway for further studies. Graduates are expected to qualify for:
· Direct Entry (DE) admission into 200 level at any university accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC); or
· admission into any institution accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to pursue a Higher National Diploma (HND).
Principal officers and administrative heads pledged their total support to guarantee a rewarding academic and personal experience for the new students
