BAUK VC Advocates Inclusion of Private Universities in Federal Intervention Programmes

The Vice-Chancellor of Baba-Ahmed University, Kano, Professor Adamu Idris Tanko, FRGS, FANG, has called for increased government support for private universities across Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview today on NTA's special documentary programme, "National Development by the Presidency," Professor Tanko emphasized the need for private institutions to benefit from intervention initiatives such as NELFUND, TETFund projects, research grants, and other educational support programmes.

He noted that supporting private universities would enhance access to quality higher education, strengthen research and innovation, and contribute to national development.

Baba-Ahmed University Lifts R&K Cup Viva Kano Trophy, Takes Home ₦1m

The Baba-Ahmed University Kano (BAUK) has been crowned champion of the R&K Cup Viva Edition Kano, defeating Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) 4-0 in a dominant final to lift the prestigious trophy.

The victory has earned the university the tournament's grand prize of ₦1 Million, sponsored by the MTN.

Competing against seven other universities, the BAUK team showcased determination, discipline, and excellence throughout the competition, finishing as worthy champions.

Congratulations to the players, coaching crew, Management, and the entire Baba-Ahmed University community on this achievement.

BABA AHMED UNIVERSITY KANO TO EXPAND ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

Baba-Ahmed University is set for a major expansion beyond the existing academic programs as it will soon commence the Law (LL.B) program in the 2026/2027 session. Plans are also underway to run the Chinese Language Programme in the University.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adamu Idris Tanko, FRGS, FANG, who disclosed this in his matriculation Address also unveiled plans for a Criminology and Security Studies programme and a Centre for Linkages, Advancements and Innovations to boost skills, research, and global engagement.

He noted that the University was leaving no stone unturned towards moulding and producing future-ready graduates!
