Bayero University Kano Mechanical Engineering Department Knowledge is power

From the 1984/85 session, the Mechanical Engineering Department with other departments in the Faculty of Technology started a 4-year degree programme and from the 1990/91 session, the department began a 5-year degree programme which runs till date.The Department also runs Post Graduate Programmes in the areas of Energy and Production. The PG Programmes include Post Graduate Diploma in Mechanical E

ngineering, Masters and PhD Degree programmes in Energy Engineering and Production Engineering. The department in addition, to the sound theoretical background given to the students in the lecture rooms also expose them to extensive relevant laboratory experimentation and exercises. In addition, the students are trained through an 8-week Students Work Experience Programme (SWEP) in Level 200, a three month supervised industrial training SIWES I in Level 300, coupled with a 6-month well organised Student Industrial Works Experience Scheme (SIWES II) during the whole of the second semester period for the Level 400 students. The lectures received in the classroom are complemented by practical laboratory sessions in Thermodynamics, Materials Science, Solid Mechanics, Applied Mechanics, Machine Tools, Metrology, Manufacturing Processes, Control Engineering, and Fluid Mechanics

Decision on Allocation of Students to Halls of Residence Under Renovation

The Deanery of Student Affairs, in its drive to advance student welfare, has held a series of consultations with students, parents, student leaders, and stakeholders regarding requests to allocate halls of residence currently under renovation but nearing completion.

This decision is intended to reduce the pressure and uncertainty surrounding hostel allocations.

The Deanery has accepted these requests and will proceed with the allocation of Idris Garba, Elkanemy, Sa’adu Zungur, and Block P (Female) Halls.

Students allocated to these halls will only be allowed to move in once renovation work is completed.

Students are advised to regularly check their room status on the hostel portal: mybuk2.buk.edu.ng/eHostel
