Yesterday, the Department of Public Health, Newgate University Minna, in collaboration with Edge by Mima, held a Professional Development Workshop on “Teamwork, Collaboration and Conflict Resolution.”

The session featured insightful presentations from guest speakers, thought-provoking discussions, and an engaging interactive session that brought the university’s management, staff and students together to share ideas, ask questions and explore practical ways to work better as a team.

It was more than a workshop; it was an opportunity to learn, connect and appreciate the power of collaboration in building a stronger university community.

FCIT SOFTWARE SHOWCASE 2026: WHERE IDEAS TURNED INTO SOLUTIONS! 💻🚀

It was an exciting display of creativity, innovation and problem-solving at the FCIT Software Showcase 2026, as students of Newgate University Minna brought their ideas to life through technology.

Working in teams, the students developed solutions to real-world challenges, with projects ranging from healthcare referral platforms and vehicle security systems to QR-based student verification, e-learning and energy monitoring solutions.

The Code Crafters emerged as the overall winner with their Healthcare Referral Platform, taking home ₦350,000.

🥈 Alpha Team came second with their Customer Service Representative solution, winning ₦250,000, while 🥉 Titans, who presented the Soloscan Security Suite, secured third place with ₦150,000.

Other teams — Beta, Next Gen Builders and AHF Innovation — also impressed with projects including the Community Guide App, Skill Pass (Aegis), Energy Monitor Management and E-learning Platform, with participating teams receiving cash rewards for their efforts.

The showcase was enriched by the presence of invited industry professionals who served as moderators and evaluators, including Abubakar D. Mohammad, Director of Cybersecurity, Niger State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NSITDEA), representing the Director-General, alongside other distinguished guests.

The event also featured Mr. Abdullahi Idris Umar, MD/CEO of One17 Capital Limited, who shared valuable insights from his journey and encouraged students to think beyond the classroom and build solutions that can create real impact.

From ideas on paper to solutions on display, FCIT is giving young innovators the space to create, compete and build for the future. 🌟

Our 100-Level students got practical with their Introduction to Computer Hardware class.

They explored computer components, learned what each part does, and got a closer look at what really goes on inside the machines we use every day.

A mini practical, but a big step towards understanding technology beyond the textbook. ✨

Newgate University Minna was pleased to welcome the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Martina Shuaibu Ibrahim, and her team on a courtesy visit to the University.

The delegation was received by the Pro-Chancellor, Mallam Hassan Nuhu, alongside members of the University Management.

The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to reflect on their partnership, discuss the welfare of Corps Members, and explore ways to further strengthen collaboration.

As part of the visit, Newgate University presented a ₦3 million CSR contribution to the NYSC towards the provision of furniture and improved facilities for Corps Members.

The gesture reflects the University’s commitment to the welfare of Corps Members and its belief in partnerships that create meaningful impact beyond the classroom.

We remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote service, collaboration and youth development.
