Army Donates Textbooks To 3 Primary Schools In Doma

The Nigerian Army 4 Special Forces Command, Doma, Nasarawa State, has donated 4,402 textbooks to 2,490 pupils in Doma Local Government Area.

Brigadier-General Lewis Lepdung, Commandant of the Command, who made the disclosure on Monday in Doma, said the gesture was in commemoration of the 2022 Nigerian Army Day Celebration.

He said the command donated the books on behalf of General Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Lepdung explained that the beneficiaries were drown from Doma Central Science Pilot Primary School, Roman Catholic Mission (RCM) Primary School, Doma, and Local Government Education Authority Primary School, Doma.

He added that the gesture was aimed at contributing to the development of the pupils to enable them to realise their potentials and achieve their dreams

The commandant said, ”the Army intervenes from time to time in different sectors of human life to show the people that they care about their welfare and wellbeing.”

Lepdung promised to do everything possible to tackle criminal elements in the area and the state in general.

Alhaji Ahmed Usman-Sarki, Chairman, Doma LGA, expressed gratitude to the 4 Special Forces for the gesture towards contributing to the educational development of the pupils.

The chairman extolled the efforts of the officers towards curtailing the frequent armed robbery on Doma-Lafia Road.

“Today, the Army has again shown that they also care about the future of the pupils by donating reading materials in basic subjects,” the Chairman said

He warned the Head Teachers of the benefiting schools to use the books for the purpose they were meant.

Responding on behalf of the benefitting schools, Tina Attah-Garba, Head Teacher, RCM Doma, thanked the Army for the gesture.

She promised that the books would be used judiciously to justify the investment by the Army.

Motorcycle Thieves Disguising As Police Officers Arrested In Masaka

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Nasarawa State has arrested a five-man syndicate of motorcycle thieves who disguised as police officers.

The arrested suspects were namely: Aminu Adamu, Adamu Mohammed, Rilwanu Bala, Kabiru Usman and Bashir A. Bashir, according to a statement by Nasarawa Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel on Monday.

Nansel said police operatives attached to Masaka Division acted on information that led to suspects arrest.

“On 03/07/2022 at about 1435hrs, police operatives attached to Masaka Division, while acting on credible information, smashed a notorious syndicate of motorcycle thieves that operates between AYA Junction FCT Abuja and Keffi, Nasarawa State.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects posed as police officers, hire commercial motorcycle riders to a location where one of the syndicate members poses as an Assistant Superintendent of Police and dispossessed the rider of his motorcycle.

“The suspects confessed to have snatched over 30 motorcycles and they produce fake receipts and sell them off to unsuspecting members of the public,” he said.

The statement added that the suspects would be charged to Court after further investigations.

The exhibits recovered include a “Peugeot 406 Blue in colour with registration number ABJ 963 NW, Two (2) fake Police warrant cards, two (2) fake Police Community Relations (PCRC) Identification cards, were recovered from the suspects.

Others are, “One (1) spray teargas, one (1) pear of Handcuff, one(1) Walkie Talkie, Blank Motorcycle receipts booklet and criminal charms.”

Vandal electrocuted in Anambra, four others in police net. A yet to be identified vandal suspect was electrocuted in the early hours of Sunday.

DAILY POST learnt that the incident occurred while he was vandalising Umuezerimpi 500KVA Distribution Substation, property of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC), located at Umuatuegwu Okija, Anambra State.

The incident came a few days after four other persons were also nabbed for vandalizing EEDC installations at different locations.

These developments were confirmed by the Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, in Enugu.

According to Ezeh, the deceased was not operating alone, as other members of his gang took to their heels immediately he was electrocuted, leaving behind his lifeless body and their tools at the scene of the incident.

APC Spokesman Says Ombugadu A 'Yahoo Governorship Candidate'

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has described Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu as a yahoo governorship candidate.

A seasoned public affairs Analyst and spokesman of the governing party, Chief Douglas Otaru made this known in a statement while reacting to a claim by Ombugadu, the governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections that Governor Abdullahi A. Sule has nothing to show in his over 3-years in office.

He expressed confidence that the 2023 governorship election would be walkover for the PDP because the APC-led administration has failed.

Reacting however in a statement on Saturday, Otaru described the 'nothing to show' claim as baseless and lack substance in its entirety.

“Opposition elements in any political setting are very dangerous. They will never see anything good in whatever you do for them. If you like give them your testicles, they will still blame you for their impotency. Worst still, they will visit the inadequacies and failures of their past leaders on whoever that is serving them with all good intents and purposes especially when perceived not to be from their ancestry or socio religious lineage.

“It sucks when I heard one Yahoo Governorship candidate of one political party saying the APC-led administration of Governor Abdullahi A Sule in Nasarawa State has done nothing in three years.

“To us, that is baseless and lack substance in its entirety. We remain focused, resilient and determined to continue to do our best for the overall best interest of the good people of Nasarawa State.”

Meanwhile, Ombugadu has promised to tackle the spate of insecurity in the state with technology if elected governor.

He made this in an interview with newsmen on Friday at his residence in Akwanga after the maiden meeting of all the PDP flag bearers in the state.

Youth Forum of Islamic Movement under the revered leadership of Sayyeed Zakzaky in collaboration with Youth Forum of Christian Association of Nigeria, Doma Chapter have organised a one day conference. at CAN Secretariat in Doma, Nasarawa State.

The event with the Theme " The Importances of Cordial Relationship Between Muslims and Christian in Human society, has Pastor Habila From FULAFIA, Pastor Methuselah Ndoma Bento From Abuja, Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Abdulazeez Bugawa (Abu-Sumayya) from Abuja among others in attendance.

Guest speaker at the event Pastor Methuselah Ndoma Bento From Abuja who said all human being are created by one God through Adam and Eve added that Sheik Zakzaky' is preaching peace and harmonious relationship between human, while fighting corruption in human system, which both Islam and Christianity were against.

Speaking on the importance of harmonious relationship between Christian and Muslims, Methuselah explain that If God has planned for human being to live differently, He would have created different world for different religion, thus enjoyed Nigerians to unite irrespective of tribe and religion to fight corruption as a common enemy.

Pastor Methuselah who urged Nigerians to resist the scourge that is making us see each other as enemy, use the medium to glorify God for blessing his with the knowledge of Malam Zakzaky, who changed his perception of Islam and the Muslims.
