CAREER SERVICE CENTRE CONDUCTED A TWO-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR STAFF

The College of Education and Legal Studies, Nguru, Yobe State, has successfully conducted a two-day training workshop for staff of the Career Services Centre under the 2026 TETFund Career Centre Intervention Programme.

The Workshop was held under the theme “Strengthening Professional Skills Through Capacity Building and Innovation.” The Training was designed to equip Career Service Centre staff with relevant knowledge, skills, and practical competencies in career guidance and development, while strengthening their professional capacity through innovation and modern career service practices.

The Workshop focused on key areas, including effective career counselling, career coaching, job-search strategies, CV and résumé writing, labour-market information, employability skills, and other essential career development services.

These areas are critical to supporting students and graduates in making informed career decisions and improving their employability.

The Training was was facilitated by Dr. Kukawa and Prof. Umar Bababe Adamu.

Declaring the Workshop open, the Provost of the College, Prof. Ali Manzo Usman, commended the organisers for successfully putting the programme together. He described the theme as apt and timely, noting that continuous capacity building is essential for institutional development, professional excellence, and improved service delivery.

Prof. Manzo urged participants to actively engage in the training sessions and make effective use of the knowledge and skills acquired. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the College Management to continuous staff development, innovation, and professional growth.

The workshop featured insightful presentations, practical exercises, interactive sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities; as participants were exposed to emerging trends and contemporary approaches in career development and service.

The training also provided an important platform for professional networking, practical learning, experience sharing, and innovation among Career Service Centre staff. It is expected that the knowledge and skills acquired will contribute significantly to the effective operation of the Career Service Centre and enhance the quality of career guidance and support provided to students and graduates of the College.

The event ended successfully, with participants expressing appreciation to the College Management, TETFund, Maikanti IT Consultancy and Management Services Ltd., and the facilitators for their contributions to the success of the programme.

Participants also called for the sustainability of similar capacity-building initiatives to ensure continuous professional development and improved career services within the College.
