JUSTIN: Scores Killed, Others Missing as suspected herdsmen attack Kwande in Benue
Many people have been allegedly killed by gunmen suspected to be killed by Fulani herdsmen in Udeku community of Maav-Ya, Mkoonmom district of Mbaikyor Council Ward, Turan Jato-Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
The attack took place on Sunday afternoon Sunday 03-03-2024, a source in the area reported.
According to message sent to the WhatsApp platform of Citizen Television by one Waalawa U Mbaikyor ,"Turan and Ikyurav Ya People are all on the run. We are homeless. We are helpless. We are hopeless and Our children and the unborn generation are hopeless."
"We call on our various political, religious and traditional leaders as well as all sons and daughters/stakeholders to rise up and speak for the people of turan before the entire Kwande will be occupied by the killer Fulani Herdsmen." The message added.
The message reads in full, "Turan People Of Kwande Under Serious Fulani Herdsmen Attack Again.
"Killer Fulani Herdsmen this afternoon (Sunday 03-03-2024) attacked and killed the innocent farmers of Udedeku community of Maav-Ya, Mkoonmom district of Mbaikyor Council Ward, Turan Jato-Aka.
"Udeku community is less than 8 kilometers away from Nyihemba, the headquarters of Mbaikyor council ward.
"Udeku is bordered with Usambe Mba Sha Hua, a community in Liev ward 1 of Ikyurav Ya, all in Kwande East.
"From the geographical location of the Communities in Turan and Ikyurav Ya, let it be known to everyone that all the 5 council wards in Turan and the 3 council wards in Ikyurav Ya are occupied by the Fulani herdsmen.
"Turan and Ikyurav Ya People are all on the run.
We are homeless.
We are helpless.
We are hopeless and
Our children and the unborn generation are hopeless.
"We call on our various political, religious and traditional leaders as well as all sons and daughters/stakeholders to rise up and speak for the people of turan before the entire Kwande will be occupied by the killer Fulani Herdsmen.
"So many souls have been confirmed killed while many are still missing."
The Benue State Police Command is yet to comment on the attack.
