The VC, Prof. Oti Commissions FUTO Café..Encourages Investors To Embrace The University
The Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Mrs. Nnenna N. Oti - on September 10, 2021 - graciously commissioned a 200-capacity cafeteria branded "FUTO Café" built by private investors.
The café - which is situated on the campus, precisely beside the School of Post-Graduate Studies (PGS) - comprises various segments including eatery, pharmacy, mini-mart, bakery, and cyber café, among others.
The 8th Substantive VC, Prof. Oti who was accompanied by the Management Staff, extolled the initiators of the venture for their efforts, and for finding FUTO conducive for such remarkable investment.
The boss, having described such an activity as Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT), used the avenue to urge other prospective investors to embrace the University for likewise gesture, saying the institution had an enabling environment to accommodate as much as possible.
Prof. Oti further stated that though the University fundamentally remained a place where research and academic activities thrive, there was still room for social events and what have you.
On a lighter note, the VC who is imbued with high sense of humour, said such venture being the first to be commissioned under her reign metaphorically signified that everyone would be well-fed as long as her tenure lasts.
Speaking earlier, the Founder of the commercial outlet, Prince Blaise Uzoma Okwara appreciated the FUTO Management for granting his team such opportunity to showcase their expertise to the wider society, thereby promising they won't disappoint the University.
Prince Okwara, who reportedly underwent his Postgraduate programme in FUTO, further stated that he was motivated to put up such venture on the campus having seen how lovely and blessed the FUTO Community was.
In the same vein, his partner, Mr. Emeka Ngwu informed the gathering of dignitaries that the venture, which is a subsidiary of Emeadok Resources Ltd, had all it takes to serve the entire members of the University on a daily basis.
The Chief Baker of the FUTO Café, Mr. Samuel Wilson assured that the bakery unit was prepared to provide the University Community with baking services that would stand the taste of time.
On his part, a traditional ruler and the Chairman of Ideato North & South Council of Ndi-Eze, HRH Eze G. A. Ezeihekaibe who identified the Founder as one of the prominent young men in his Community, opined that the investors would make the University proud considering their antecedents.
The royal father further thanked the Management of FUTO for the golden chance given to his subject to associate with them, and prayed that it would all end in praises in the long run.
The highpoint of the event was the cutting of tape by the VC at the main entrance of the edifice.
