CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY AT THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION PANKSHIN REACH OUT TO WIDOWS, PRISONERS, PATIENTS IN HOSPITALS AND THE LESS PRIVILEGED.

The Christian Community of the Federal University of Education Pankshin has continued to show love to the needy and the less privileged in the Society as a commitment to giving them a sense of belonging.

This it has maintained through an Annual Inter-Denominational Thanksgiving Service where proceeds from offerings realized are channelled towards meeting the immediate needs of disadvantaged groups like widows, orphans, prisoners, patients in Hospitals, the physically challenged and those under rehabilitation.

It was in the same spirit therefore that assorted food items were distributed to over 500 widows in Pankshin town and environs from the 26th Annual Inter-Denominational Thanksgiving Service held on Sunday 7th December 2025 at the Chapel of Redemption, Federal University of Education Pankshin.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Convocation Arena of the University, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution Prof. Jere Ndazhaga while encouraging the widows to continue to keep faith with God emphasized that the event is an obligation of fulfilling the doctrine of reaching out to the needy and the less privileged.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Acting Vice Chancellor represented by the Dean College of Sciences and Chairman Committee of Deans Prof. Dung Mohammed Dauda encouraged the widows to keep faith with God emphasizing that the event fulfils the doctrine of reaching out to the needy.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, Chairman of the 2025 Thanksgiving Committee Prof. Olatunde Odewumi represented by his Deputy the Chaplain, Chapel of Redemption Federal University of Education Pankshin who doubles CAN Chairman Pankshin Rev. Canon Ephraim Ngwan while emphasizing the essence of the event appreciated the Muslim Community and University Management for the support.

In a vote of thanks, Registrar of the Institution Mr. Longtong Yadok represented by Deputy Director Admission Mr. Gyang Daniel Boyi appreciated the committee for a job well done and encouraged the widows to make good use of the items distributed.

Places visited included: Pankshin Correctional Centre where the delegation was received by the Superintendent of Corrections Pankshin Samuel S. Kwaghbo.

During the visit inmates received gifts and refreshments as a way of celebrating Christmas.

Patients at Grace of God Clinic Pankshin , Memorial Medical Centre, Special Site Pankshin and General Hospital Pankshin also received cash donations to support their Hospital bills.

In their separate responses, Mrs. Mary Yohanna on behalf of Widows, Sup.of Corrections Pankshin Samuel S. kwaghbo, Chief Ado Bundi of God's Grace Clinic Pankshin , Dr.Audu Ochigbo of Memorial Medical Centre Pankshin and that of General Hospital Pankshin all appreciated the Christian Community of the Federal University of Education Pankshin for the kind donations and show of love.

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Education Pankshin has announced two key appointments aimed at strengthening the Institution's leadership and administrative framework.

At its emergency meeting held on Thursday, 18th December 2025, the Council approved the appointment of Professor Noel Nen’man Wannang as the Vice Chancellor of the University for a non-renewable five-year tenure, effective 13th February 2026.

Professor Wannang, currently of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Jos, Plateau State, brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience to the role.

He has held several positions nationally and internationally, including Member of the 15th Governing Council, University of Jos, Secretary General of West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, Chairman Plateau State Research Committee on COVID-19 and other Infectious Diseases as well as Head of Department (HOD) at different levels.

He is a distinguished scholar and seasoned administrator with vast professional/ Administrative experience especially in the Teaching Profession and winner of Research Grants. He is a Member of 14 Professional Bodies including the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

As Vice Chancellor, he will serve as the Chief Executive and Chairman of the University Management Committee, the Senate and Congregation.

Separately, at its meeting on Tuesday, 16th December 2025, the Council appointed Mr. Longtong Godwill Yadok as the substantive Registrar of the University, also for a non-renewable five-year term, effective Wednesday 17th December 2025.

He also held several positions in the University including: Member, Governing Council Federal University of Education Pankshin representing Congregation, Deputy Registrar - Establishment, Deputy Registrar - Examination and Records, Secretary Academic Board Committee on Exams and Results as well as Chairman of SSUCOEN, FCE Pankshin Chapter among others.

He has attended relevant Conferences/ workshops, received many Distinguished Awards, Honors and engaged in numerous community service. He is member of several Professional bodies including the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

Mr. Yadok will serve as Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation, and Convocation, and will be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the Institution.

Both appointments are made in accordance with the Federal University of Education Pankshin Act, 2021, and are subject to the University's Governing Rules and Regulations and general conditions of service.

The Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Funsho Ekundayo Olumoko, PhD, signed the appointments, which are expected to further enhance the University's mission to provide quality education and contribute to national development.

On his part, Acting Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education Pankshin Prof. Jere Ndazhaga has extended his congratulations to the new Vice Chancellor and Registrar while wishing them a successful and fruitful tenure in Office.
