WORLD IS BECOMING MORE WICKED
CHIMA NJOKU PLACES ONE MILLION NAIRA BOUNTY ON KILLERS OF SHADRACK CHIKWEM IN UMUEMESHIE COMMUNITY, CHOKOTA IGBOH-ETCHE.

Umuemeshie community in Chokota of Igbo Etche in Etche Local Government Area was this morning thrown into mourning as one Mr Shadrack Ogadinma Chikwem who was murdered in cold blood by some suspected assailants while they were in a family meeting.

The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Council, Chief Chima Njoku who visited the scene of the crime expressed shock over the gruesome murder of Mr Shadrack Chikwem and noted with dismay the rate of killings in the community.

He said the council would take all necessary steps to bring the perpetrators to book and directed the police divisions in the area to go into action and placed a bounty of one million naira for any with useful information that would led to the arrest of the assailants and their cohorts.

An eyewitness who was the elder brother of the deceased, Chief Anderson Onyekachi said they were in a family meeting when one Gift Nnaye Okere who earlier declared wanted by the chairman of Etche Local Government Council, stormed their meeting with four others and first stabbed him. 😭😭TĂȘĂ rs!!
Do you know that on the 21st of November around 2:am, a group of ganged crïmīnàls came with a shuttle bus,(long frame) and brÞke into somebody's shop to steal bags of rice at umeji junction by St Joseph Catholic church and Eze nnaja junction in Oraukwu.

They came with all sorts of wëàpĂžns... digger, cĂčtlĂ ss, and even gĂčñ. They came and started shooting sporadically, luckily for the security personnel who are already at alert because of constant robbery that has been going on in Oraukwu lately, they apprehended and disarmed them. Some escaped, one kpaid instantly and two were badly injured.

The only conscious one among them Ebuka Okonkwo, hailed from Amanasaa, Umuchu but based in Onitsha, he said it's his first time coming to Oraukwu to stëàl but he and his gàñgs has been going to other places 😭, and it's the work of the devil, he pleaded for mercy, he said that their informant is somebody from that particular village of Oraukwu.

He is married with kids and anytime they want to go for ĂžperĂ tion he wil tell his wife that he is going to spend the night with his friends đŸ€Š

Chai do you know that Oraukwu people later set them Ă blĂ zĂ« 😭😭

First of all this is all shades of wrong, stĂȘĂ liñg is a very bĂ d thing to do and jungle justice is another tĂȘrrÄ«blĂ« act. They would have handed the ones that survived over to the police.

A retired High Court judge in Delta State, Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, has been found dead in her Asaba residence, prompting a full-scale police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to security sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the late judge was discovered in her sitting room at No. 8 Tom Halen Street, behind IBTC Bank, with her hands and legs bound and her mouth gagged with a wrapper.

Her brother, Emeka Okogwu, found the body during a visit early Saturday morning and immediately reported the incident to the police at about 8:00 a.m. Patrol teams were subsequently deployed to the scene.

The police arrested the on-duty security guard, Lucky Matthew, for questioning, while another guard, identified as Godwin Vanen, was reported missing and is currently being tracked by investigators.

Justice Okogwu’s body was evacuated and deposited at Maduemeie Hospital Mortuary in Asaba. The motive for the killing and the identities of the perpetrators have not yet been established.

The Delta State Police Command said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Asaba, for discreet investigation. Officers are also gathering forensic evidence from the residence to aid the probe.

Residents of the area expressed shock over the gruesome murder, describing the deceased judge as a quiet, respected figure within the community.

Security experts have called for heightened vigilance and improved monitoring of security personnel in residential neighbourhoods in the wake of the incident.

The police assured the public of their commitment to apprehending the killers and strengthening security measures across Asaba.

27,980 Applicants Battle for 4,000 Teachers Slots in Abia

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has announced that the state has received 27,980 applications for the available 4,000 slots in the second batch of the ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise.

The Governor disclosed this on Friday during the November Edition of the Monthly Media Chat held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Umuahia.

He recalled that earlier in the year, the state government successfully recruited over 5,000 teachers, who have since been deployed to primary and secondary schools across the state.

For the second batch, Governor Otti explained that the recruitment specifically targeted applicants who are willing to serve in rural communities, as part of efforts to ensure that schools in such areas receive qualified and competent teachers.

“Two weeks ago, we opened the portal for the recruitment of 4,000 teachers and just this afternoon, we have received 27,980 applications,” he announced.

Reaffirming his commitment to a transparent, merit-based process, the Governor assured Abians that political influence or favoritism will play no role in the selection.

“One thing I can assure our people is that the process cannot be manipulated. If you qualify, you will get it, and if you don’t qualify, no matter who you know, you will not get it.”

The Governor’s declaration further strengthens the administration’s push to raise the standard of education, particularly in underserved areas.

After more than a year of trial, Rivers State High Court has convicted and sentenced a 400-level Petrochemical Engineering student of the University of Port Harcourt, Damian Okoligwe, to death by hanging for the murder of his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a 300-level Biochemistry student.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Chiwen Nsirim-Nwosu ruled that the prosecution, led by Charles Obediah-Mbaba, proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt, establishing that Okoligwe committed the crime. The court also held that Justina’s death resulted directly from the actions and conduct of the convict, Damian Okoligwe. The prosecution lawyer, Charles Obediah-Mbaba, who spoke to our correspondent after the judgment, hailed the court for ensuring that justice was served on the matter. Osat-awaji Otuene, elder brother to the late Justina Otuene, also spoke.

Recall that the case first came to light after operatives of the Ozuoba Police Division received a complaint from a neighbour about a foul odour coming from Damian Okoligwe’s room. Police say officers responded immediately, forced open the door, and discovered a Ghana-must-go bag containing the lifeless body of Justina Otuene. The murder trial began in May 2024, two months after the Rivers State Government took over the case.
