1.The establishment of the University:
Actualization of the idea of Northwest University Sokoto (NWUS) began in the year 2020, when the proposal for the establishment of the university was submitted to the National University Commission (NUC), in February, 2020. The approval to start the university activities was obtained on the 12th day of May, 2022. However, the general concept of the Northwest
University has started long years ago, about 15 years or more, by the then Northwest Governors, among which is our proprietor; Sarkin Yamman Sokoto, Senator, Dr. Aliyu Magatakada Wamakko.
2.The purpose of establishing the University before and now lies on the ground of:
Providing quality education to the teeming population northwestern states in particular and the nation, world at large;
Complement the efforts of government in providing education to the Nigerian citizens;
To bridge the large gap in education between northern and southern regions of Nigeria;
To revolutionized educational development in terms innovations and entrepreneurial skills.
3.The Vision of the Northwest University Sokoto is “to Contribute in the development of its immediate environment, the nation, and the world by promoting the idea of university as a humane community of thinkers, scientists and inventors”. Our Mission, is “to serve as a global first-rate institution where excellence is pursued towards producing men and women with intellectual, scientific, professional and cultural empowerment, and who can apply their skills and knowledge to the resolution at national and global challenges, with a deep sense of social responsibility.
