By: Sharafdeen Rumaitha Odunola
The University Sustainable Development Goals Club (UNI-SDGC), in partnership with the Entrepreneurship Club, has officially launched the Sokoto Youth Impact Lab (SYIL 2026, Cohort 1), a youth-centered initiative aimed at empowering and inspiring young leaders across Sokoto State.
The programme is designed to equip participants with leadership skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, innovative thinking, and collaborative abilities needed to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and community growth. Through the initiative, participants are expected to gain practical experience and exposure that will prepare them to become agents of positive change within their communities.
According to the organisers, the programme will run for three weeks and involve 45 carefully selected participants. Throughout the training, participants will engage in intensive learning sessions focused on leadership development, entrepreneurship, innovation, teamwork, and community-based solutions.
The sessions are also expected to promote creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and networking among young leaders, while encouraging participants to develop ideas capable of addressing societal challenges.
The launch of the Sokoto Youth Impact Lab comes at a time when youth involvement is increasingly recognized as vital to achieving sustainable development and social progress. The initiative provides a platform for young people to share ideas, build partnerships, and create impactful solutions that can drive positive transformation in Sokoto State and beyond.
Organisers expressed optimism about the success of the programme, noting that SYIL 2026 will not only inspire participants but also strengthen the culture of leadership, innovation, and community engagement among youths.
The launch of the initiative marks another significant step toward empowering young people and encouraging their active participation in developmental activities that benefit society as a whole.
