HEARTFELT CONGRATULATIONS TO DR. STELLA CHINELO AMAGBOR (STELLA EMELIFE)!

On behalf of the staff and students of UDUS, we extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Stella Chinelo Amagbor (Stella Amagbor) on the successful completion of her PhD. This remarkable milestone is a fitting testament to her intellectual brilliance, perseverance, discipline, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence.

Dr. Stella’s academic journey is truly inspirational. An alumna of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), she graduated with First-Class Honours in Applied Chemistry and emerged as the overall best graduating student of the University in the 2013/2014 academic session, with an outstanding CGPA of 4.86/5.00. She subsequently proceeded to the University of Mysore, India, where she earned a Master’s degree in Chemistry, achieving an extraordinary academic record that earned her 20 gold medals and five cash prizes at the University’s convocation in 2019.

Her successful completion of a PhD represents another significant chapter in a story defined by determination, distinction, and the pursuit of knowledge. Beyond the degrees and honours, her journey exemplifies the transformative power of education and the capacity of Nigerian scholars to excel on the global stage.

As we celebrate this accomplishment, we look forward to the contributions she will make to scientific research, innovation, mentorship, and the advancement of knowledge. May this achievement open even greater doors for her and inspire many more young scholars, particularly women in science, to pursue their academic ambitions with confidence and courage.

Congratulations, Dr. Stella! May your new chapter be filled with greater discoveries, meaningful impact, and continued success. You have made your family, mentors, colleagues, and UDUS proud.

Once again, hearty congratulations on this well-deserved achievement! 🥂🎓

UDUS MOURNS THE PASSING OF EMERITUS PROFESSOR AHMAD TIJANI SULAIMAN

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that the management, staff, and students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), announce the passing of one of our most distinguished scholars, Emeritus Professor Ahmad Tijani Sulaiman.

Emeritus Prof. Sulaiman was not just a member of our community; he was a pillar of it. A renowned scholar and a pioneer in the field of Solar Energy, he served as a Professor of Solar Energy Studies at our great University, where he was promoted to the rank of Professor in 1983.

His legacy at UDUS is indelible. He served as the Director of the Energy Research Centre and as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), among other distinguished positions. His dedication to academic excellence and administrative integrity helped shape the trajectory of this institution.

Beyond UDUS, his impact on Nigeria’s educational landscape was monumental. From his early days at Government College, Barewa, and King's College, Lagos, to his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, he remained a beacon of knowledge and service.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a two-time President of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN), Prof. Sulaiman was a national treasure whose contributions to science, technology, and renewable energy will continue to inspire generations.

The loss of Emeritus Prof. Sulaiman is a colossal blow to the family of academia and to the nation at large. However, we take solace in the remarkable life he lived and the enduring legacy he leaves behind.

We extend our deepest condolences to his immediate family, the people of Ringim (Jigawa State), the academic community, and all who were privileged to know him.

May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, have mercy upon him, illuminate his grave, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

Rest in Peace, Emeritus Professor.

Signed:
Management, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
