A recap of celebration of excellence, resilience, and new beginnings. 🎓
The AUN 17th Commencement Ceremony marked the culmination of years of hard work, sacrifice, and purpose.

Among this year’s inspiring stories were the Chibok 12, whose journey from captivity to commencement stood as a powerful reminder that hope, education, and resilience can transform lives.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026.

"In the American tradition, commencement has a deeper meaning than graduation... Graduation means completion, but the word commencement means we are sending our graduates forth into a new world with tools, skills, and the abilities to be our future leaders." ~DeWayne Frazier, AUN President/Vice Chancellor

After sending off AUN’s Class of 2026 to go build and create impact globally, President DeWayne Frazier and the AUN enrolment team continued the celebrations with a visit to Restoration High School, Yola, recognizing the momentum students and staff have built around academic excellence.

They celebrated the students’ academic wins, showed what an American liberal arts education at AUN opens up, and gave a special shoutout to the standouts from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Indeed, big things brewing in Yola.

At our 17th Commencement on May 9, 2026, Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by NUC Executive Secretary Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, recognized what we are building together:

“This institution has established itself not merely as Nigeria's premier private university, but as a genuine continental reference point — a living demonstration that a world-class, values-driven institution can be rooted in African soil, responsive to African realities, and wholly committed to African futures.”

Grateful to the Class of 2026, faculty, staff, and families for making this vision real every day.

It began with the solemn march of the procession and ended in a chorus of cheers and happy moments.

Between those two beats, AUN’s 17th Commencement unfolded in pure celebration, pride on every face, futures taking their first step forward.

To the Class of 2026: you walked in as students and walked out as graduates.
The rest is yours to write.
