Met zijn project Shared Beginnings onderzoekt econoom Zichen Deng hoe recent uitgebreid vaderschapsverlof in Nederland uitpakt in de praktijk.

“We willen inzicht krijgen in de bredere maatschappelijke effecten van dit beleid. Niet alleen op korte termijn, maar ook op de lange termijn.”

Met Shared Beginnings wil Deng bijdragen aan een meer inclusief en onderbouwd gezinsbeleid. “Beleid gebaseerd op data, niet op aannames. Dat kan helpen om de balans tussen werk en gezin eerlijker te maken, voor vaders én moeders. En uiteindelijk: voor gezondere kinderen en een sterke samenleving.”
