OPPORTUNITY FOR ALUMNI!

We are currently looking for TWO alumni who are excited to contribute to AUC’s alumni community as official AUCAA Board members!

As an AUCAA Board member, you will coordinate projects, organize events, and contribute to AUC’s alumni policy. Ideally, you enjoy working in a team, connecting with people, and feel comfortable representing the AUCAA by hosting events and speaking publicly (or on our podcast!). You network with ease, and have ambition to take the Board to another height, and ideally can commit for at least one year. We are looking for candidates who are based in the Netherlands and willing to travel to Amsterdam when required. The work load is estimated to be about 3 hours per week. The two board vacancies are for the positions of General Board Members, but specific tasks and responsibilities can be decided on together with the rest of the board.

*CALLING ALL AUC ALUMNI!*

Remember that time when you studied at AUC and had no clue what to do next? Do you wish there would have been an older, more experienced, wise alumni to give some advice on what master’s to do or where to travel in your gap year? This is your chance to become that helpful alumni!

Help out a current AUC student with your wisdom and experience joining AUCAA’s Social Walk as a walking buddy! You will be paired with one or two current AUC students and go explore the beautiful streets of Amsterdam this June 26th from 14:00 to 16:00. This not only provides a great opportunity to discuss post-graduation life and careers, but you get to meet new people, have some physical activity, and grab a coffee on your way!

To participate, simply fill in the sign up form (https://forms.gle/ioAuN3ioCvv9QjaK8) to tell us a bit about your AUC history and what you’ve been up to since graduating! As soon as we’ve found your walking partner(s), we’ll send you an e-mail with their name(s), some practical information, and your personally curated walking route (which included pit-stops for coffee and a bite to eat). All YOU have to do is show up with some comfy walking shoes and excitement!

A message from the Dean:

Dear AUC Alumni,

We know that survey fatigue is real, not to mention post-survey traumatic disorder, but AUC would like to ask for your help with the current University College alumni survey. It’s really important to AUC to build a picture of how well our degree prepares alumni for further study and work, and your input is vital as we develop our strategy for the next period. These responses will also be considered in the forthcoming accreditation round for all UC’s and it would be great if AUC is well represented and your feedback captured. Some of the questions will be more relevant to some of you than others, depending on whether you graduated recently or several years ago, but if you are able to spare some time to complete what you can it would be hugely appreciated!

Fellow excellent and diverse alumni,

As you know, your AUCAA is all about bringing you opportunities and offering you a network to draw from. A huge part of being able to do that is knowing where you are at in life and how we can best reach you.

DESAN will be conducting the first University College Alumni Survey in the Netherlands. DESAN is a research solution company with over 30 years of experience based in Amsterdam. This will be the biggest survey yet conducted and will cover all UC alumni from each of the nine colleges in the country. It will provide university college alumni organisations with a great insight into how to provide their alumni with an even better service.

The survey will open on 7 Nov. You will receive an invitation via email. Just make sure you have your former student ID ready.

Dear AUC alumni in Hong Kong,

It is a great pleasure to invite you for a joint AUC-UvA alumni event on Monday, 13 November, 19.00 at Ping Pong, Hong Kong (http://pingpong129.com/ ).

The nature of this event is informal and the main purpose is to connect, socialise, share ideas and to discuss future UvA/AUC alumni activities in Hong Kong. To do so, we created a Sli-do account where you can post ideas, questions or anything which may be of interest to the UvA-AUC community in Hong Kong.

We, Ramon Puras (former AUC Vice Dean and UvA fellow teaching & innovation, and Treasurer of the AUCAA) and Dora Achourioti (Logic teacher at AUC and researcher at UvA Institute for Information, Logic, Language and Computation) will be present at this event. Both of us are happy to provide an overview of current AUC (and UvA) developments and to discuss future alumni initiatives in Hong Kong, exchange matters or whatever may be relevant for you.

This event is co-organised by Florian Verbeek (AUC and UvA alumnus, now PhD student at HKU).
