En wat doet de term ‘joods-christelijk’ met ons historisch besef? Wereldwijd biedt religie een gids voor miljarden, terwijl in Nederland steeds minde

r mensen aan een religie gebonden zijn. Tegelijkertijd is religie overal: in het nieuws, op school, op de werkvloer, in het ziekenhuis en op straat. Wat betekent dit voor onze samenleving en wat doen we als we met religie geconfronteerd worden? Op zoek naar de feiten met De Staat Van God: een verrassende avond in de Amsterdamse Stadsschouwburg met korte colleges op het scherpst van de snede door Nederlandse topwetenschappers. Rosaliene Israel is a pastor in Amsterdam. She lives in an urban Christian community. It's a community with a long history in the middle of the red light disctrict. She will be sharing some of the early research findings from her current Phd project at the Protestantse Theologische Universiteit (PThU), looking at the question: Modern monks in urban settings: a new trend?

Zomaar een berichtje in Het Parool gisteren. Bilderdijkstraat, 1987. Door snelle bevolkingsgroei ontstond in de negentiende eeuw behoefte aan een grote kerk, De Liefde werd toen gebouwd. In 1990 maakte het gebouw plaats voor appartementen en een kleine kerkzaal die tot 201 dienst deed.
