Dutch National Opera Academy is a partnership of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

The Dutch National Opera Academy is an elite two-year’s master’s programme offering a wide-ranging curriculum encompassing all aspects in the training of an aspiring opera artist. In addition to a focus on refining technical skills, students are supported in developing a very clear sense of vocal and artistic identity, and how these attributes can best be united to meet market demands and expectat

ions. The programme is tailored so as to enable young artists to enhance chances of success in a competitive field as they transition from full-time education to the workplace. DNOA graduates can be found in many of the world’s leading opera houses. The programme mounts several full-scale productions each season and enjoys close ties with the wider world of opera. The Cunning Little Vixen is not your typical opera… Foxes, frogs and foresters abound in Janacek’s enduring work directed by Daniel van Klaveren for the Dutch National Opera Academy. The artists of the DNOA are hard at work in the studio to bring this thought-provoking story that will pull at your heart strings, performed in the original Czech! We live for magical moments on stage. Connecting with the audience, feeling the energy of the hall….

But it’s the moments offstage that offer the feeling of ‘what could be?’ The energy between colleagues, the concentration of a well-oiled machine coming together, the shared laughs and toi-toi’s that mean that the show is ✨that✨ much richer.

Take a peek into the inner workings backstage at Campanello, performed only once as part of the Bredeweg Festival on King’s Night! We loved working on this seldom performed opera with the whole team both from the DNOA and the Bredeweg Festival!

As we re-enter summer (and remember what sunlight feels like in the Netherlands), the DNOA dives into Leos Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen! An unexpectedly moving portrayal of the circle of life and all the creatures that come with it comes to Amare! 🦊 🐸 🦡

In collaboration with the Residentie Orkest, the artists of the DNOA will perform this exciting Czech opera (with Dutch and English subtitles!) that explores the intertwining of life and death and the relationship between man and nature.

What’s better than King’s Night? King’s Night with a free opera performance! 👑😍
King’s Night, the Oranje Vrijstaatplein became the place to be thanks to our artists’ spectacular performance of Il Campanello!

The plein was packed, the costumes were on point, and our cast and orchestra were locked in for this extraordinary performance that filled the streets during the Bredeweg Festival. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the DNOA and opera part of their King’s Night! 🇳🇱
