🌱 Community and education coming together in The Hague!

On 28 May, Wittenborg and Vadercentrum Adam co-hosted a Green4adu Project workshop, bringing together adult learners, educators and community members to explore green skills, wellbeing and sustainable career pathways.

The Green4ADU project aims to strengthen adults’ green awareness, competencies, and inclusion in the labour market through practical and accessible learning approaches. During the workshop, participants engaged with interactive tools such as an energy-saving quiz, an e-learning platform, and the Plastic Wallet DIY methodology.

💡 A key highlight was the World Café discussions, where participants exchanged ideas on real-life sustainability challenges, explored green training models and identified effective ways to communicate sustainability at the community level.

The outcomes of this workshop will directly inform the project’s research and recommendations, helping shape more inclusive and impactful green learning pathways for adults across Europe.

Great to see how collaboration between higher education and community organisations can turn research into real impact.

Maggie Feng received the Silver Medal of Honour from the Municipality of Apeldoorn. 🏅

Presented by Mayor Ton Heerts during her farewell at Wittenborg, the award recognises her lasting impact on international education and her contribution to Apeldoorn and the wider region.

Heerts said: "It is a well-deserved distinction for her enormous commitment, inspiration and exceptional contribution to our society and to the Stedendriehoek region.”

On 27 May, colleagues, partners, friends and members of the Apeldoorn community gathered at Ketelhuis in Apeldoorn to celebrate and thank Maggie Feng for her many years of dedication, leadership and connection.

During the farewell event, Maggie was surprised with the Silver Medal of Honour from the Municipality of Apeldoorn, presented by Mayor Ton Heerts. The distinction recognises her long-standing contribution to the city, her role in strengthening international education in Apeldoorn, and her involvement in numerous social, cultural and economic initiatives across the region.

We would like to thank Maggie for her years of commitment and contribution to Wittenborg and the wider Apeldoorn community, and wish her all the best for the future.
