The BUas community is diverse and that’s something to be proud of! Unfortunately, not all LGBTQIA+ (which stands for le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r or questioning, intersex, asexual, and more) students and staff always feel safe enough to be open about their sexual and/or gender identity. They may even face discrimination. BUas wants to draw attention to this important issue for more than just 1 day. Therefore, not only on Purple Friday but from 5 - 9 December, we as a community, show our solidarity with LGBTQIA+students and staff by using the colour purple. This fits with the inclusive learning and working community we strive for.

During this extended Purple week, the BUas community organises several activities around diversity and inclusion f.e.;
👉 On 5 December at 20.00 hrs, there will be a live Q & A session on the BUas Instagram account by two students.
👉 The HUB will pay attention to this topic on 6 December at 16.15 hrs
👉 There will be a BUas Instagram account take over by the LGBTQIA+ club on 9 December

Keep an eye on the portal - especially the community site, website, socials, HUB, narrowcasting and the campus grounds where the progress pride flag will be raised. And don’t forget to wear something purple, especially on Friday the 9th!

We are excited to announce our partnership with IRON FILMS. Together we will develop and research virtual production tools & techniques. They will help enabling us to be one of the leading universities in western Europe to develop and offer Virtual Production programmes for our bachelor and master students of Creative Media & Game Technologies students.

IRON Films had an exciting journey developing and researching Virtual Production solutions, yet they are confident there's much more to be explored and achieved.
Virtual Production and in-camera visual effects with LED volumes is complex, advanced technology. The technique combines real-time game engine animation using Unreal Engine along with LED screens and tracked cameras to deliver visual effects shots live and in-camera. We truly believe Virtual Production is the future of film making as it generates more creative possibilities.

The bachelor and master students of our Games programme will be able to learn how to set up Virtual Production workflows and how to deal with software and hardware requirements.

BUas partnered with ROE Visual to be the first university of applied sciences on the EU continent to have a full-fledged XR stage available for its students. Academy for Games & Media lecturers Carlos Santos and Stephen Paine are both excited about the collaboration: "The availability of and access to an XR Stage for research and development that comprises products that are not only used in the professional work field but are also highly acclaimed is a huge incentive for our students. It's a great tool to increase their knowledge and take their performance to the next level. With this partnership, BUas, having developed partnerships with Epic Games and Sony, continues its strategy to link with the best manufacturers and brands." The XR stage will be officially launched early in 2022.
