Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (ME)

Minimally invasive surgery, off-shore dredging, automated driving; they are all based in mechanical engineering. Jointly, our experts conduct applied and fundamental research on a range of subjects, including sustainable energy, robotic solutions, transport, logistics, security and healthcare. The faculty houses some first-rate teaching and research facili

ties such as a robotics lab, a towing tank, a medical lab and a process technology lab. The faculty offers three bachelor's degree programmes: Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Engineering and Clinical Technology

In addition, the faculty also offers seven master's programmes: Biomedical Engineering, Offshore & Dredging Engineering, Technical Medicine, Materials Science & Engineering, Systems & Control, Marine Technology, Mechanical Engineering

We look back at a successful Maritime Engineering Design Day 2025! 🌊 Beautiful designs, spectacular races, and many happy faces πŸ˜ƒ

As part of the year-long β€˜Integration and Skills’ project, Maritime Engineering students learn how to design a vessel that meets specific requirements. In this way, theory from their other first-year courses is directly applied in practice.

This week our first year Maritime Engineering students are in the workshop to make a scale model of their own designed boat. This is part of the Integration and Skills course, where students apply theory to practice. Among other things, the boat should be able to transport wind turbine components to offshore wind farms. πŸ’¨πŸ’¦

Are you curious to see how the boats perform in the water? Everyone is very welcome to have a look at the Design Competition on Wednesday 4 June 15:30 at the lawn behind the ME faculty πŸ”œπŸ‘€

After months of hard work, all first-year students of the bachelor Mechanical Engineering could battle their crate stacking stacker to find out who could stack the most crates. 🏁 Over 100 teams where challenged to stack up to 25 crates during the Design Competition, designing a stacker that uses a lifting movement and a forward movement with an increasing stability challenge. πŸ› οΈGreat results!
