International Entrepreneurship & Development

International Entrepreneurship & Development This page is for TUDelft students, phd's, employees and alumni who are interested in International Entrepreneurship & Development!

For most companies it's a continuous but interesting trial to balance profit, people and planet. There is a trend visible in (sustainable) entrepreneurship to not only focus on high-income countries, but also to focus on the inhabitants of the low- and middle income countries. We think international sustainable entrepreneurship is the key to global development.

Bart, Joost and Twan are three students from the TU Delft participating in our minor International Entrepreneurship and Development who work together with STEORR. This is a Dutch organisation who wants to achieve a sustainable economic development of the Ricanau M**o region, Surinam. The first step in this process is to show local farmers the benefits of horticulture with the help of a demonstration greenhouse. To be able to build this greenhouse they have started a crowdfunding and would like your help!

You can find more information and donate at http://onepercentclub.com/modelkassenbouw. Thank you in advance

Stijn, Maxime, and Remko, are three students from the TU Delft for our minor International Entrepreneurship and Development who will work together with Godfrey Munezero. Godfrey is a Ugandan farmer from the Kisoro region. The students` team is going to build a greenhouse together with Godfrey. With the vegetables he grows in this greenhouse, he hopes to improve both food security and the region's economy! Unfortunately, this is not possible without funding.

Three students of this year: Karlijn Sanders, Wisse Koopal, and Thijs van de Water are working on a project in collaboration with a daycare center in Cape Town called Belhar Early Childhood Development Centre (BECDC) Beleaf Aquaponics Cape Town

By helping them build a hydroponic system, they will soon be able to grow vegetables with little water. For this, we need donors! As a thank, for your support, in collaboration with a Dutch start-up LOFE https://www.lofe.nl/, a present will be sent to all the donors: a small illuminated plant on water (hydroponics). Nice for Christmas or to give as a present!

One of the student teams this year; Lars van der Horst, Max Verkuil and Gijs Feenstra, are working with Stichting Sengerema for which they lead a project in with the aim to enable underprivileged youth in Tanzania to make a positive social impact in their community through entrepreneurship and to become financially independent. In collaboration with the Youth Entrepreneurs Projects foundation (YEP Tanzania), they are working together with the Elabs Institute of Technology - an independent boarding school in Tanzania - to help their students to become young entrepreneurs.

How are they going to do it?

1. They will teach and transfer online entrepreneurial skills such as marketing, promotion, accounting and market research.
2. They will guide a group of around 20 students to set up a company based on sustainable cosmetic products such as disinfectant or antibacterial soap.

A spoiler alert: is the name of their company! It means 'intellectual' in and this name was coined by the students!

Do you like this project and want to support the young entrepreneurs? Look here for more information:
