🌊⚡ Offshore Wind Farm Boat Tour – October 9th ⚡🌊

Our biggest Energy Club excursion of the year is here!

On October 9th, we’re taking you out on the water for a unique boat tour through Windpark Fryslân. We’ll sail right through the wind farm, giving you the chance to experience the scale of the turbines and one of the Netherlands’ most impressive renewable energy projects up close.

And while we’re cruising through the wind farm, lunch will be served on board! ⛴️🥪

The day also includes a presentation at the Afsluitdijk Wadden Center and a visit to the Breezanddijk substation, giving you a look at the energy infrastructure behind the wind farm.

For only €5*, everything is included:

*Lunch Lecture by Hans van Doesburg – Overview of Nuclear Power Generation*

As the world gradually moves away from fossil fuels, nuclear energy is increasingly recognized as a low-emission, weather-independent source of electricity.
The processes inside a nuclear power plant are not well known by the general public, and the news media merely report on some of the general aspects of this technology.

This presentation describes the basics of nuclear fission and other topics associated with nuclear power generation. Several newer nuclear process concepts will also be reviewed.

⚓ Ports, Energy Transitions & International Solutions

Last week, the Delft Energy Club visited Haskoning for an interactive workshop on the role of ports in the energy transition.

From African port development projects to industrial decarbonisation and renewable energy infrastructure, we explored how technical solutions, local realities, investment, governance and international cooperation come together in practice.

Highlights included:
🔹 Ports and energy development in Africa
🔹 Case studies on Banana Deep Seaport and Cotonou Fishing Port
🔹 Ports as hubs for industrial transformation and net-zero transitions
🔹 An interactive stakeholder simulation on the Port of Nador, Morocco

Lunch Lecture with Leo Freriks of Siemens – Scaling Hydrogen Production, A Story of the Hare and the Tortoise

Join us for a lunch lecture on scaling green hydrogen production and the choices that come with it. Do you move fast, like the hare, to capture the market? Or do you move more carefully, like the tortoise, to make sure the technology is mature?

The lecture will explore how to strike the right balance between opportunity and risk, between cutting-edge and proven technology, and how to find profitable business models for customers.

It will also touch on how the current geopolitical situation may speed up or slow down green hydrogen developments — and cover the questions you were afraid to ask about green hydrogen production.
