Project MARCH

Project MARCH Project MARCH is a TU Delft team who makes an exoskeleton for people with a spinal cord injury.

Project MARCH is a team that consists of 26 students from the Delft University of Technology, that designs and builds the MARCH exoskeleton. With this exoskeleton, people with paraplegia will be able to stand up and walk again, giving a boost to both the physical and mental health! By giving the user control over the exoskeleton and by making smart use of sensors, the user will be able to walk wit

h the MARCH intuitively despite the lack of sense in the legs. In close collaboration with our pilot Koen, we develop the most impactful innovations in order to give the exoskeleton technology a big push forward!

We proudly present the design of the exoskeleton of Project MARCH XI!

With this exoskeleton, we will achieve our team goal: “Project MARCH XI will build an exoskeleton that enables the pilot to visit a museum by walking selfbalanced with hands-free control, allowing natural interaction with both the exhibits and loved ones, while requiring minimal assistance to put on and take off the exoskeleton by the end of July 2026.”

Over the coming months, we will focus on building, testing, and training, all leading up to a live demonstration this July 💙

Last week, Jan came to give us a Talk Like TED style masterclass to help us prepare for our design presentation!

He shared valuable insights on how to tell a strong story, keep your audience engaged, and clearly get your message across. Beyond the theory, we also practiced ourselves and received feedback we could immediately apply.

Super useful lessons that have already helped us improve and that we’ll definitely take with us towards our final reveal presentation!

Thanks, Jan, for the inspiring session! We learned a lot!

Saying goodbye to M10's exo

Last Friday, we disassembled the M10 exoskeleton. With M10, we achieved self-balanced standing, allowing the user to remain stable even when correcting pushes and nudges from the outside world 💪⚙️

After countless hours of testing and training with M10, it was time to say goodbye and take it apart. By doing so, we can reuse key components, such as the rotational actuators in the hips and knees ♻️ These actuators still meet the requirements for this year’s technical goal, so there’s no need to build new ones.

Meanwhile, Project MARCH XI is hard at work producing the M11 exoskeleton 🦾🚀
Stay tuned for updates on our progress!

Thank you M10 for all your service 💙

This International Women’s Day, we are proud to highlight the 13 women who are part of our team, making up 50% of Project MARCH💙

From mechanical and software to operations and management, their contributions are essential to turning ideas into reality.

Their work, creativity, and dedication help drive our mission forward every day.

Today we celebrate the women in our team and the many others around the world who continue to make their mark in technology 🦿

One exoskeleton in two years!
(2027-2028-2029)

Starting in 2027, Project MARCH enters a new phase.

We are introducing a two-year development cycle: one exoskeleton, built across two years of MARCH.

MARCH 12 will lay the foundation, with more time for design and system architecture.
MARCH 13 will build upon it, refine it, and elevate it further, with a strong focus on training and optimization.

By building cumulatively instead of restarting each year, we create more space for deeper integration, stronger validation, and higher technical maturity.

This shift allows us to push balance, control, and human–machine interaction to the next level!

At the start of this month, we had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs back to Project MARCH!

After visiting us last year, it was great to show them how much our exoskeleton has progressed since then. It’s always inspiring to share how our technology moves us toward a more inclusive future and to talk about how innovation, policy, and international perspectives can reinforce one another.

At TU Delft, we believe that technological progress grows stronger when engineering, healthcare, and social impact come together!

A warm thank you to our visitors for coming by again, for their interest, and for the engaging conversations. We hope to welcome you back in the future

📢 There are still some open positions for Project MARCH XI!

You too could help build an exoskeleton that allows people with paraplegia to stand up and walk again!

To realize this direct impact on the life of someone with paraplegia, you will work together with a determined and enthusiastic multidisciplinary team. Along the way, you will gain valuable hands-on working experience in a learning environment and make friends for life. Whether you want to contribute full-time or part-time, you can still join us this year!
