On the 7th of June we said goodbye to Huub Savenije who will from now on enjoy his retirement.
We, the Dispuut Watermanagement, were very honoured to be invited to this wonderful event to celebrate his retirement.
On behalf of all students we would like to say that we enjoyed his courses and his enthusiasm. He has truly inspired many of us by sharing his findings and experiences all over the world. We are grateful for the amount of time he has set apart to teach soon-to-be hydrologists their way around different water systems and phenomena.
But he is not only a guidance for us students, also his research has found great appeal within the academic world. As soon as someone drops the word Hydrology here at the university his name is associated with it immediately. The awards and recognition he received speak for themselves. He is one of the reasons the department of Hydrology & Water Resources at TU Delft is so renowned and known all around the world.

As the Dispuut Watermanagement and soon to be Dispuut Water & Environment, we also want to recognize how much of an inspiration he is especially to students like us. That is why we announced Huub Savenij as our new honorary member of the Dispuut.

Thank you very much for accepting and enjoy your retirement!

We were sad to share that one of our honorary members, Pieter Huisman, passed away recently. A retired associate professor on integral water management and water law here at TU Delft. Pieter Huisman became honorary member in 2003 and was a valued member in the watermanagement community.

May peace and comfort find your family and close friends during this difficult time.

Water covers 70% of our planet, and it is easy to think that it will always be plentiful. However, only 3% of the world’s water is fresh water, and two-thirds of that is stucked away in frozen glaciers or otherwise unavailable for our use. Protecting the world’s freshwater resources requires diagnosing threats over a broad range of scales, from global to local.

So, Are we ready for the challenge…???

To know it in more details, join the Water Symposium 2018 by Dispuut Watermanagement. A day-long session with the internationally recognized experts from different part of the globe will share their ideas addressing the Global Challenge.

We are proud to share this post from TU Delft! Our members are promoting sustainability, raising awareness on water use and footprint and helping to fundraise for a water sanitation project in Ethiopia!

Today is World Water Day💧It highlights the importance and use of water with a variety of events around the world.

Some of our Water Management students supported the Walking For Water event at the Nederlands Watermuseum. A few hundred school children learned about global water issues and raised funds to help solve them. They have been sponsored by friends and family to walk 6 kilometers while carrying 6 liters of water. The total quantity of water carried by those 400 children is the water footprint of a single cotton's shirt: 2500 liters of water.

This summer we went with the Dispuut Watermanagement for our yearly study trip to Morocco. It was an amazing experience for all of us. We visited several interesting water-related companies and projects and got to see a variety of landscapes in the south of the country. Thank you to our partners for the support! Here you can see a few impressions of the journey.
