Texture hunting 🌀

Are you ready to go on a hunt for the textures that surround us every day? Join us for this very exciting and creative afternoon! On Tuesday 26th of May, we will walk around Eindhoven and use clay to print different patterns and textures that we find around us: tree trunks, façade details, stone work,… 🧱 everything is a possibility! We will then use these pieces of textured clay to make beautiful prints that you can stamp on your sketchbooks and can keep for future drawings! So don’t forget to bring a sketchbook or some paper. 🖍️

🏙️🇳🇱 Join us on a full-day architectural trip to Rotterdam, exploring some of the city’s most iconic contemporary landmarks and innovative design spaces! 🚉

We’ll begin the day by visiting the famous Cube Houses, an iconic example of conceptual housing that challenges conventional ideas of living space. Right next to it, we’ll explore the vibrant Markthal, where architecture, food, and public life merge into one striking urban interior.

From there, we’ll head to the Museumkwartier, home to some of Rotterdam’s key cultural institutions.

To conclude the day, we’ll get exclusive access to the Baantoren construction site, guided by our new partner Powerhouse Company. We’ll end the experience in their floating office, where you’ll enjoy a tour and a drink while gaining insight into one of the Netherlands’ leading architectural practices.

CB5 and Antea Group are challenging you and your fellow students to use the natural building material, bamboo, to create a beautiful and interesting pavilion. This year’s theme will be social wellbeing and user’s care, we can’t wait to see how you implement this idea in your designs. The Bamboo Challenge isn’t just another competition; it’s a chance to showcase your passion for sustainable building and inspire the world with the power of bamboo. A month of mixing skills, inspiration, and a few days out of the studio. Here’s what we got up to:

Mar 2–6 – Book Market 📚
A full week of digging through books, and finding new references. Always a good excuse to expand the collection.

Mar 4 – Photoshop Training 👾
Leveling up our rendering game. New tools, better workflows, and fewer last-minute struggles (hopefully).

Mar 21 – Tilburg Film Festival Excursion 🎥🎬
Stepping away from architecture for a bit. A day filled with films, fresh perspectives, and seeing storytelling in a completely different way.

Mar 25 – Bamboo Lecture 🎍
Getting ready for the next challenge. Learning about bamboo as a material and starting to think about what’s possible.

A stress free activity to relax from this intense exam season! Join us for an evening in the Residency bar for a cozy workshop where you will learn how to design your own stickers! Draw the stickers yourself or make a collage with magazines and pictures, the choices are endless! Let your imagination run free and take home your beautiful personalized stickers (or sticker them all around :)) ⭐️

Materials for making the stickers will be provided, but feel free to take some drawing materials or magazines and images you want to use. A free drink will also be offered! 🎪

Urbanism Week 🌆

Join us from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th of February to celebrate our urbanism students and explore urbanism in different ways. Throughout the week, there will be 3 activities that dive into urban thinking, creativity, and collaboration. 🫂

Test your knowledge at our Urbanism Pubquiz on the 24th, challenge yourself creatively during our Watercolor Workshop on the 25th where you’ll learn how to paint urban landscapes, and compete in our 12H Design Challenge to reimagine and redevelop the station area of ’s-Hertogenbosch on the 27th! 🌟

Whether you’re an urbanism student, or passionate about urbanism and landscape design, this week is all about coming together to celebrate and explore this topic. 🌿
