TU/e Smart Mobility

TU/e Smart Mobility Smart Mobility is one of the research areas of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Share

Good mobility is crucial to the public as well as to industry and the economy. In Smart Mobility some 230 researchers from various disciplines are working on clean, efficient and smart vehicle technology, logistics systems and traffic systems with the aim of minimizing emissions, traffic jams and accidents. Recent TU/e examples include intelligent cars able to communicate with each other to avoid

traffic jams, lighter batteries for electric cars, more fuel-efficient and cleaner diesel engines, and optimum planning models for freight transport. Smart mobility concerns clean, efficient and intelligent surface transport systems for people and freight in a network of transportation infrastructures, characterized by continuous direct information exchange and supported by mobility and traffic modeling. To ensure continuation of individual and collective mobility in the coming decades, TU/e offers a unique single-campus combination of specific (research) capabilities, concerning automotive technology, intelligent transport systems, freight transport and logistics, and mobility and traffic.

After revealing the concept, we rolled up our sleeves and started building Stella Terra. πŸ› οΈ

What goes into realising a solar vehicle designed to drive both on- and off-road? For us, it begins by preparing the moulds. First, sheets of fibreglass are laid in the moulds and are heated in a big oven to form rigid and stiff panels. In the meantime, the lightweight frame is made by assembling our chassis and roll cage. Afterwards, the fibreglass panels are assembled onto the frame. This results in the first real and physical impression of our vehicle.🚘

We can't wait to share the upcoming phases of Stella Terra!

Come and see them on April 16th between 13-16h. Other TU/e teams will join as well!

InMotion is thrilled to be present at the Automotive Week during the Talent Fair, showcasing our latest innovations and technologies. We are excited to give a pitch in the hopes of winning the Best Student Team Award 2023. Plus, we will be having an open house in our garage during the demos on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 15.30h till 17.00h. Come and join us to see what we have been working on!

Meet Stella Terra

Stella Terra is an on-road and off-road car on solar energy. 🏞 Stella Terra is known so far to be the first off-road car powered by the energy of the sun.β˜€οΈ Sufficient energy is generated by solar panels not only to drive 🚘, but also to live on 🏠

The solar energy is generated via solar panels on the roof. These panels generate enough energy not only to drive, but also enough to live on. For example, it is possible to use the electricity for cooking and charging devices such as a phone or camera. This makes the user completely independent of the road and charging infrastructure πŸ•οΈ. This creates ultimate freedom! 🌍
