The 21st Making Architecture lecture-evening will focus on the theme of ‘Water’ with a double lecture by Jurgen Bey (Studio Makkink & Bey) and Florian Boer (DE URBANISTEN). Juliette Bekkering will be moderating this special online edition of the ‘Making’ Architecture Lecture Series , in "times of change".

In the lecture series ‘Making’ Architecture, organized by AnArchi, Study Association for Architecture, and Juliette Bekkering of The Chair of Architectural Design and Engineering (ADE) at the TU Eindhoven, two architects give a double lecture about their views on ‘making’ architecture. The double lecture format creates an exciting dynamic and provides insight in how different architects deal with the making of architecture. They will elaborate on a number of projects that show how the process of making, from concept to building, unfolds in their office.

The ‘Making’ Architecture Lecture Series continues ‘in times of change’. The second lecture of this special edition will focus around the theme of ‘Biobased’ with a double lecture by Lucas de Man (Company New Heroes) and Raoul Vleugels (Werkstatt), taking place on Thursday the 25th of March.

In the lecture series ‘Making’ Architecture, organized by AnArchi, Study Association for Architecture, and Juliette Bekkering of The Chair of Architectural Design and Engineering (ADE) at the TU Eindhoven, two architects will give a double lecture about their views on ‘making’ architecture. The double lecture format creates an exciting dynamic and provides insight in how different architects from different offices in fact deal with the making of architecture. They will therefore elaborate on a number of projects that show how the process of making, from concept to building, unfolds for that particular speaker and office.

The program of the evening will be as follows:

19:00h – Short introduction by Juliette Bekkering
19:15h – First lecture
20:00h – Short break
20:15h – Second lecture
21:00h – Questions / Discussion (moderator: Juliette Bekkering)
21:30h – Closing

Two winning teams of our Faculty, 2nd prize "Velvet Concrete" by Michiel Derikx and Koen van Dijk and shared 4th prize, a honorable mention for "Chain link" submitted by Kyra Heijblom and Rick Wassenaar. It was part the outcome of the research seminar CONCRETE FUTURES by Cristina Nan and Tom Veeger in Q1.

In the 9th edition Concrete Design Competition (2020) Dutch students of architecture and civil engineering were asked to submit a design that gives substance to the theme FORM-WORKS.

WELCOME TO THE MULTI PROJECT ONLINE EXPOSITION
Some good news in these problematic Corona times, we did a website experiment in the Multi, our 3th year bachelor design project. In a normal situation we have an exposition at Plaza with a lot of models and posters but due to Corona we had to use some other way to show the final team work. We think the 33 teams did well, including small movies with elevator pitches of 2 minutes. Take a look, we used the free website system by Wix for all the student teams, it’s one the most easy system to work with at the moment, it works like PowerPoint “what you see is what you get” and students can learn to build a website in 30 minutes.

Every spring and fall semester there is a design project of ten weeks for third year bachelor students of the Faculty of Built Environment of Eindhoven University of Technology in which teams of 6 to 7 students have to work together on a real assignment.

At the Albert van Abbehuis (opposite of the van Abbemuseum), an ongoing exhibition BOEKenDELEN until 6th December, it is a intriguing collection of books about art, design, architecture, music, photography, graphic design collected by Anthon Beeke. If you are bored or tired to stay at home please visit us. Even if you want to work at one of the tables in-between the books it is allowed, starting from next week you are welcome with your laptop (wifi and coffee available), depending if we don't have to much visitors. (Corona regulations)
BOEKenDELEN, a Corona safe place to sit, read and think for a while. Exposition curated by Lidewij Edelkoort and Charlotte Grün, studio Ook.
