The Arts, Culture and Media Department at the University of Groningen offers students an innovative, enriching and interdisciplinary arts program grounded in three essential facets of the contemporary arts word - artistic disciplines, the inter-mediated nature of current arts practices and the arts institutions of contemporary society. Here students follow a three part program in the cozy and cha

rming city of Groningen. Specialization in one discipline chosen from Film, Literature, Music, Theater and Visual Arts;

2. A core curriculum that provides integrated arts courses in arts philosophy, sociology, aesthetics and cognition;

3. A professional methodological framework centered around the current professional arts worlds of either
I. Arts Education or
III. Arts Management and Policy.

There is an absolutely amazing international school coming to Groningen on Sustainable Cities and Cultures of music. We've tried to shake things up this time with a variety of interactive events and academic papers including concert crawls, sound walks, inclusive jam sessions, soundwalks and some sustainable, earth friendly vegan snacks. Graduate students can still register for this school and earn 3 ECT for following the three days.
We are thrilled to host Professor Dr. Ellen Waterman of Carleton University as our keynote speaker who will discuss “Improvising across difference: Fostering inclusive and sustainable music communities.”
