It’s the question of human life on this planet – what sort of future we are heading towards and what we can do, not to change it but to shape it. It’s a question that underpins our existence at University College Groningen. A key aspect of our interdisciplinary ethos is to function as a hub of imagination and enquiry, empowering teams of students to address the global challenges of sustainable soc
iety, energy and healthy ageing. It’s a question that can be asked in many different ways – and it has many possible answers. You could join the quest to shape one of these game-changing questions, and perhaps to help provide one of the answers. The Innovation Generation project invites today’s young people to consider different perspectives and come up with innovative solutions to tomorrow’s biggest challenges. Working in groups of two to four, your task will be to submit an original question, plus a brief outline of how you might answer this question. These can be in any format: videos, words, pictures... the choice is yours. The most popular entries, as voted for by the public, will then be shortlisted and invited to attend our special presentation day in Groningen in March 2016. Here you will get the opportunity to present your ideas to a panel of high profile thought leaders. The panel will be looking to commend and reward those groups who have proven their powers of original, innovative thought, challenged us all to look at the world through fresh eyes - and advanced the global discussion about sustainability. The prizes for the successful entries will be revealed soon...but the true winners will be all of us. Because this isn’t just a game, this is intended to really make a difference.
