ample, until they went all corporate. When they got outside equity investors into their company to "grow faster" they had no other choice than to squeeze out their customers. They put in 300 million euro and expect it back at some point. We dont have that problem. It took us 4 years to bootstrap to where we are right now, but since we let you communicate freely and fought hard to create it as sustainable as possible, I am still 100% owner and have no investors in my back pushing me to betray customers, all funding is debt funding. Debt funding comes from investors, but they have no say in the operational activities. I want to lead the direction, because this is a website from students for students and it stays that way. Lets create transparency
I want sumzitup to be transparent, working ethically correct and offer a service from which everyone benefits. I want the platform to be free of too many rules and let the user decide what they want. You guide us, where you want the website to develop. To give an example, there are competitors that offer housing for a fee. Be it for access to their database or for securing a deposit. I want these things to be free and people should be free to decide with whom they want to deal with. We are developing towards an ever more developed society where we can leave our MacBook in the library when getting a coffee without being afraid that it gets stolen and even grocery stores trust in their customers nowadays with self-scanning counters. I want this to translate to buying and selling stuff, carpooling or finding room mates. Free, easy and transparent is the goal. I can not give you guarantees, but I hope that applying common sense is the key to a world free of trouble. Whats with the stupid names like Ride It and Book It you may ask? You can post all posts from one section (like Sell It or Book It) at once into a facebook group, page or message, simply by going to “my stuff” (on the left) and then click “share all my stuff from…” (green button underneath the green search field)
Stream It
It works like the timeline on facebook. First you see everything, but when you follow people you will only see what they share in chronological order. Following people
In your profile you can see who follows you and you can follow them back. If someone follows you, they instantly see when you post something on the website. Messaging
Some like receiving messages from strangers on their facebook, some don’t. You can decide in your profile, which social media is visible to others and which not. If you want to keep strangers away from your personal facebook accounts, just leave them blank and receive messages via the website. It is completely up to you how much information you want to provide. Location
In your profile you can set a default location so you see in the streams how far the products are away from you. How much information you provide is completely up to you. The more detailed the location, the more precise the website can measure the distance. We dont use that information about you, but probably google does (what dont they use!?). Events
In your profile you can pick the city from which you want to see the events on top of the website so you always know whats going on around you.
