Hi everyone! We are excited to announce the upcoming alumni talk session. The theme for this edition of "What's Next?" is creative and immersive technologies. We have invited two alumni who represent this field very well - Robin de Lange and Anastasia Thambwe. Both will share about their lives after graduating Media Technology.

Robin graduated from Media Technology in 2013. He founded the Virtual Reality Learning Lab, which helps schools, companies, students, and individual professionals use VR and AR for teaching and training. He has also an extensive teaching experience and he is often invited to give talks reflecting on the effects of digital technologies on our society, in particular on how Virtual & Augmented Reality can change the way we learn, create and solve problems.

Anastasia graduated from Media Technology in 2022 and is a Creative Technologist and Game Designer at the Digital Society School in Amsterdam. Anastasia worked on various projects for the design, development, art and management processes. Her self-taught skills as a digital artist aid her in designing and communicating about projects she takes part in.

After the two talks, we’ll have drinks and pizza at Fusie.

"What's Next?" is a nice social event that brings together MT alumni, students, and staff. It is organised by students and showcases the diverse career paths after Media Technology.

Date: Friday, December 13th
Time: 16:00 - 17:00
Location: Gorlaeus Building room BE.0.09

Friday, February 23rd will be the first What's Next alumni talk of the semester! This time, we welcome Andrei Nesterov and Patrick Heneise to share about their careers and experiences with communities in technology.

Andrei Nesterov attended Media Technology courses in 2019 and is currently pursuing a PhD in the Human-Centered Data Analytics group of CWI. This research group focuses on human-centered, responsible AI in culture and media to ensure inclusive digital systems that promote diversity and combat misinformation. In addition to conducting research in the traditional sense, Andrei is a freelance data journalist, working on projects for NGOs.

Patrick Heneise graduated from Media Technology in 2011 and is currently CEO of Zentered, a software engineering company. He is a digital nomad and actively fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing in tech communities around the world, having co-founded several initiatives such as the Cyprus Developer Community and BarcelonaJS.

Through these alumni talk series, we aim to inspire current Media Technology students, showcase the variety of career paths available after completing their studies, and facilitate connections between alumni and students. These series are organised by the students of Media Technology themselves.

See you there!

Location: 413, Snellius
Time: 16:00-17:00, Friday, February 23
Followed by drinks

P.S. Mark your calendar: The other dates for the “What’s Next?” series in the Spring semester are April 12, and June 14.
