What's Next? “How to get a PhD” edition.
Date: Friday, May 29,
Alumni talks: 16:00-17:30
Location: Gorlaeus Building, room BE.0.09

Many Creative Intelligence and Technology graduates are interested in pursuing a PhD position. Many of our alumni have been successful in doing so. In this informal session led by Maarten Lamers and Zane Kripe, two of our former students, Miriam Traub and Larissa Boerenstam, will share their experiences on how they got their PhD positions and what to look out for when applying for one.

Miriam Traub obtained her PhD in 2020 with a thesis titled "Measuring Tool Bias & Improving Data Quality for Digital Humanities Research" at CWI, the Dutch National Research Laboratory for Mathematics and Computer Science.

Larissa Boerenstam just started her PhD journey a few months ago at Erasmus University Rotterdam on football video games and race.

With "What's Next?” we hope to inspire current CrIT students, show the various paths taken after their studies, and bring together alumni, current students, and staff.

The session will be followed by drinks at Fusie.

Friday, December 13th 16:00 - 17:00

Hi everyone! We are excited to announce the upcoming alumni talk session. The theme for this edition of "What's Next?" is creative and immersive technologies. We have invited two alumni who represent this field very well - Robin de Lange and Anastasia Thambwe. Both will share about their lives after graduating Media Technology.

Robin graduated from Media Technology in 2013. He founded the Virtual Reality Learning Lab, which helps schools, companies, students, and individual professionals use VR and AR for teaching and training. He has also an extensive teaching experience and he is often invited to give talks reflecting on the effects of digital technologies on our society, in particular on how Virtual & Augmented Reality can change the way we learn, create and solve problems.

Anastasia graduated from Media Technology in 2022 and is a Creative Technologist and Game Designer at the Digital Society School in Amsterdam. Anastasia worked on various projects for the design, development, art and management processes. Her self-taught skills as a digital artist aid her in designing and communicating about projects she takes part in.

After the two talks, we’ll have drinks and pizza at Fusie.
