I Am Afriq Be Enlightened, Empower one another; and Celebrate your love for Africa.

May the 25th marks the celebration of Africa day, the anniversary of the historic formation of the Organization of African Unity (now known as the African Union). Africans all over the world celebrate the day as a commemoration of the day when leaders of 30 of the then 32 independent African states signed a founding charter to collectively address the challenges the African continent has faced. In

the same spirit, a group of students from various faculties in Maastricht have decided to come together and facilitate an event on the 25th of May commemorating this historic day and celebrating the different cultures of the African continent. This has arisen out of the realization that there are a sizable number of African people living in Maastricht, both students and non-students. There are also many people from Maastricht University who have a connection with the African continent in one way or the other and Africa day would be the perfect opportunity for them to share their experience of Africa with fellow students within the multicultural milieu of Maastricht.

Rwanda 1994-2014 : "20 years after the genocide, reconciliation has been a rocky road... but for most victims, there is no choice but to live side by side with perpetrators in their own communities, making reconciliation both difficult and necessary. For pragmatic reasons (among other reasons) people taken extraordinary steps towards recovery and reconciliation". http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/04/06/magazine/06-pieter-hugo-rwanda-portraits.html?_r=1

20 years after the genocide in Rwanda, these perpetrators and survivors are standing for forgiveness.
