The Student Project Team (SPT) creates a bridge between the university and students, ensuring the student perspective is taken into account within UM operations. Established on September 1st, 2013, the Maastricht University Student Project Team (SPT) fulfils an operational role within the Maastricht University (UM) central management. On the level of staff, the SPT participates in taskforces and w
orking groups, providing the student perspective on past and new projects. When needed, the SPT also organizes broader Student Panels, inviting feedback from the whole student body. On the student level, SPT works with groups and associations of students to ensure student problems are addressed, and to support new ideas and inititatives. In the spring, they organize the Student Idea Competition, whose winners receive funding to implement a new project beneficial for the university. Throughout the year they provide guidance to new student organizations through the Student Initiative Helpdesk
Through this, they intent to get the student population more involved in general UM-related matters and to make the UM services better tailored to their students wishes. The motto of the SPT 2020/2021 is Inclusivity in Innovation, thus making sure diverse perspectives are taken into account in adapting the university to the arising challenges. The SPT is currently composed of four students who work together with various groups and departments at the UM. SPT activities are open to staff and students from all faculties. We currently do not have physical office hours due to university-wide restrictions. Feel free to email us with your questions or set up an online meeting on [email protected] .
