Clinical rotations stop as of 16 March
The past few days, some clinical rotations already ceased. Now that the pandemic continues to spread, stronger measures are in place. Today, 15 March, consultation took place between the deans of all Dutch medical faculties. In line with the regulations of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to stop physical education in higher education, and because of the rapid expansion of the virus, we have decided to put a stop to the clinical rotations from MUMC+/FHML as of 16 March 2020. Many students want to volunteer to support healthcare institutions. In the coming week, we will provide more information about the opportunities to work as a volunteer for students who would like to do that.
Below you find the most important consequences of this decision:
• All physical education and exams within the buildings of MUMC+/FHML will be stopped until further notice. This also includes all clinical rotations and (scientific) patientbound internship, and other internships in healthcare settings where the safety of the student cannot be guaranteed. This applies to all clinical internships in MUMC+, the affiliate hospitals, the GP practices and all other healthcare instititions.
• An exception to this is the possibility that HELP (Health Care Participation, ‘GEZP’ in Dutch) students and phase 4 A-KO students can continue their junior doctor internship (‘semi-arts-stage’ in Dutch), if this contributes to healthcare (also with general practitioners or the GGD). The prerequisite for this is that the learning objectives are maintained and supervision can be guaranteed. This exception is not an obligation for students, and they may withdraw unilaterally under any circumstances and at any time.
• Students can make a voluntary contribution to healthcare. No credits are associated with this work. The Institute for Education will set up a contact and support centre for this; more information will follow as soon as possible.

Ook co-schappen stoppen per 16 maart
Informatie over co-schappen geneeskunde & A-KO
De afgelopen dagen zijn sommige coassistentschappen al gestopt. Nu de pandemie verder uitbreidt, worden de maatregelen ingrijpender. Vandaag, 15 maart, heeft overleg plaatsgevonden tussen de decanen van alle Nederlandse geneeskundefaculteiten. In lijn met de regelingen van het ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap om het fysieke onderwijs in instellingen voor hoger onderwijs te stoppen en gezien de snelle uitbreiding, hebben we besloten dat de coassistentschappen vanuit het MUMC+/FHML stoppen per 16 maart 2020. Veel studenten willen zich aanmelden als vrijwilliger om zorginstellingen te ondersteunen. In de komende week zullen we meer informatie verstrekken over de mogelijkheden om te werken als vrijwilliger voor de studenten die dat willen.
Hieronder vind je puntsgewijs de belangrijkste gevolgen van dit besluit:
• Al het fysieke onderwijs en examens binnen de gebouwen van het MUMC+/FHML worden gestopt tot nader orde. Hieronder vallen ook alle coschappen en (wetenschappelijke) patiëntgebonden stages en andere stages in een zorgomgeving waarbij de veiligheid van de student niet gegarandeerd kan worden. Dit geldt voor alle coschappen in het MUMC+, de affiliatie ziekenhuizen, de huisartsenpraktijken en alle overige zorginstellingen.
• Uitzondering hierop is de mogelijkheid dat GEZP-studenten en A-KO studenten in fase 4 hun semi-arts stage kunnen vervolgen, wanneer dat een bijdrage levert aan de zorg (ook bij huisartsen of de GGD). Voorwaarde hiervoor is dat de leerdoelen gehandhaafd blijven en de supervisie gegarandeerd kan worden. Deze uitzondering is geen verplichting voor studenten, en zij kunnen zich onder alle omstandigheden en op elk moment eenzijdig terugtrekken.
• Studenten kunnen op vrijwillige basis een bijdrage leveren aan de zorg. Aan deze werkzaamheden worden geen studiepunten gekoppeld. Hiervoor zal door het Onderwijsinstituut een contact-/steunpunt worden ingericht, waarover zo snel mogelijk meer informatie volgt.
We doen onze uiterste best om studievertraging voor betrokken studenten te voorkomen dan wel te beperken.
