Faculteit der Letteren

Faculteit der Letteren This page is created by the Faculty of Arts at Radboud University in the Netherlands in order to bri Studying in Nijmegen is a unique experience!

The Faculty of Arts is one of the largest faculties within Radboud University, with approximately 2,800 students and about 300 staff members. In the early days, its primary emphasis was on history and languages. Within the language programmes there has always been the possibility of specialising in literary and linguistic aspects of a language. Nowadays, in addition to traditional specialisations,

new options are available, such as Communication and Information Studies and the interdisciplinary regional study programmes of American Studies and Dutch-German Studies. Another example of an innovative discipline is Literary and Cultural Studies. The Faculty of Arts has hosted students from all over the world for many years now. In the last few years, the number of incoming students has considerably grown. Partner universities from all over the world send more than 200 students to our faculty every year.

It's International Women's Day! Today, equal rights and opportunities for women are the centre of attention. That is why we also take a moment to point out women who have meant a lot to our faculty. Such as Christine Mohrmann, the first female professor at Radboud University and the faculty (1952). Or Ida Groenewout, student of Classical Archeology who was appointed as the first female president (praeses) of the Club of Protestant Students, part of the Nijmegen Student Corps Carolus Magnus (1935). You can read more on the timeline that will be exhibited in the Erasmus building from Monday.

Do you have points that the FSRL can do something with? Feel free to speak to one of the members or send an e-mail to [email protected].
