Yesterday, we had the opportunity to visit the summer course International Grail: Communities with a Heart guided by Christa Anbeek, Yvonne sliep, Ina Conradie, Monica Maher and Mary Heidkamp.
They were embroidering the names of women who have been victims of femicide. This initiative (a community with a heart) from Ecuador is led by Verรณnica (one of the participants) to help connect family members/friends/acquaintances (or anyone who wishes to join) to embroider in their memory/honor. All of them, in some way, use threads, have memories through threads, literally or figuratively, with other livesโฆ. Therefore, by embroidering (whether they have experience or not), a safe space for dialogue is created in these activities.
These pieces will be joined to the complete blanket that is in Ecuador. It is a piece of art that they take to marches, events, inaugurationsโฆ to commemorate the victims. Causing different impressionsโฆ
