A big thank you to all students who filled out the National Student Survey! Your feedback is of great value to the university in improving our courses and programmes. Additionally, the results of the survey also help prospective students in chosing a programme that fits them best. We appreciate all the responses!

A day at the reception is never the same at FFTR. “Our main tasks are to answer questions of teachers, students and guests. We also hand out keys, do secretarial tasks, make reservations for rooms, organise small events, and help teachers with preparing their exams. Besides that we help with moving offices, business and housing. There are also some tasks like making business carts, welcoming international guests, helping in the coffee corner. We are more like a faculty secretariat, because we do so many different things.”

Desi and Guus both like the faculty because of its good atmosphere. “We know every staff member and they know us. That makes it such a nice place to work.”

You can find the reception next to the Coffee Corner on the 15th floor. The reception is open from 9 AM until 5 PM.

From 1 December, the timetable for the 2nd semester is online and course registration is open! Registration is mandatory for participation in a course. If you register for a course, you are automatically also registered for the 1st opportunity of the corresponding test form such as exam or paper deadline.

Did you fail the 1st opportunity? You always have to register for a resit yourself! You can register for this until 23:59 on the day before a period of 5 working days before the date of the test/deadline. After this date, registration is no longer possible.

Please note: for minors and (minor) courses of other faculties, other deadlines and registration rules may apply!

For all students considering the possibility of spending some time abroad during their studies, the International Office is the first stop. They organise meetings where they tell you all about your options and answer your questions, but it is also possible to come by during their office hours if you want to speak to one of the wonderful employees of the International Office right away. Keep an eye out for the meetings and additional information about going abroad on their website (link in bio). Svenja, Treja and Felix are excited to discuss your possibilities!

Welcome to the coffee corner! Stop by the coffee corner for a nice cup of coffee or tea, in your break between lectures, in between studying or to catch up with some friends. Yolande, Bert and Wilma will make sure there is coffee and tea everyday at the faculty. Everyone is welcome; employees from FTR may grab coffee or tea for free, students from FTR and people from outside the faculty pay 50 cents per cup of coffee/tea.

There is also the option of purchasing a coffee card, ask one of the staff members. For 5 euros, you get 10 cups of coffee.

The atmosphere at the coffee corner is good: people have little chats and have a break from work or their study. There are some games available for you to play and occasionally there are also activities organized by student associations.

After you finish your coffee, you are expected to put the cup on the cart, this helps keeping the area clean.

The coffee corner is open from 8 to 16 and is located on the 15th floor of the Erasmus Building. See you there!

At the beginning of this month, the Opening of the Academic Year took place at Concertgebouw de Vereeniging.

Guyana Zijl was student speaker at this event. We were present and we talked with her about her experience. She is currently a student at the Faculty Philosophy, Theology and Religious studies as she does a shortened bachelor Religion, Politics and Society.

She gave an inspirational speech about good self-care. The examples she impressively talked about in her speech are personal experiences and might came as a surprise to some people. While she studied theology a few years ago, she learned a lot during her internship in a residential care center and with the street pastor in Amsterdam. She made beautiful contacts with a lot of different people which made her develop a passion for target groups that people in general know less about. One of the key messages she shared is how you can only be meaningful to others if you are meaningful to yourself.

Guyana felt honored that she could tell her story at this event. Because of her research at the Radboud Honors Academy, she was asked to give a speech and she did a great job.

She was really excited to be student speaker, although she never expected herself to be on stage. She can be really proud of herself as she inspired the audience with her beautiful and moving words.

Today we would like to introduce you to the new assessor of FTR: Noortje Schonck.

“My name is Noortje Schonck and I will be the assessor of the Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies faculty this year. I am in my fourth year of the Philosophy Bachelor's programme and want to get more involved with the faculty in the coming year.

As an assessor, I represent the student perspective to the board. I attend meetings and and have a voice when it comes to student issues.
Anything I hear from other students I can represent or raise with the board.
I get input from the FSR, ‘spuilunches’ and the people around me. The input may be about different faculty-related things, such as the lectures, policies, budgets or housing exam regulations. For individual things it's better to go to student advisors, but I'm there for faculty-wide issues. I want to represent faculty students as broadly as possible, so I hope people know they can come to me. I am curious what this year will bring and am looking forward to it.”

You can contact Noortje by email: [email protected]

Starting next week, students will either resume or start their study on campus. To celebrate the beginning of the new academic year, we are hosting a give away! To win one of our special faculty mugs, you have to send in a selfie with your favourite thing about being (back) on campus.

If you are resuming your studies, what did you miss most about being on campus? If you are starting this year, what caught your eye when you first got on campus? We will post our favourite pictures on our page. ❤️📚
