Rotterdam Business School (RBS) is the bilingual business school of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Over 4000 students are currently enrolled in our English-taught programmes. Education, business placements, exchange programmes and practical research projects; they are all aimed at preparing our students for a career in international business. Real-life business cases provided by international companies are at the heart of many courses. They challenge our students to learn to act quickly and decisively, and to base their decisions on growing experience and healthy reflection. Just like in the world of business, our focus is fully international. Over 65 nationalities are represented amongst our student population. We work closely with partners in the business and education communities in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas to offer our students the global outlook and experience they need to succeed.

What skills actually matter when you start working?

Last week, MCE alumna Merel van den Brink returned to Rotterdam Business School to share lessons from her first year as a consultant and change management professional.

Together with our students, she explored the realities of working life after graduation through real-world dilemmas and practical examples. From managing conflicting stakeholders and navigating difficult client conversations to handling resistance, unexpected challenges and projects that don’t go according to plan.

Students also used the Work21 competency game to turn broad professional competencies into concrete actions they can start practising during their Master’s.

A valuable session connecting the classroom to the realities of professional life, and helping students prepare for what comes next.
