Jean-Daniel Girod, all the way from Switzerland 🇨🇭, has finished our 2-year course successfully and is now ready to start his own project choir. This is what he said about his experiences during the course.

“The Vocal Leadership-approach resonated with the spirit of collective music-making. Given my strong desire to work with larger groups and choirs in the future, the 2-year program seemed a perfect fit for my goals.

Working with scores as a tool for musical leadership was quite new to me. The preparation for leading guest choirs as part op the program was particularly beneficial. The area of vocal training was completely underdeveloped for me. Marlou introduced me to interesting possibilities for musical expression, sharpening my awareness of phrasing and the deliberate placement of words within rhythmic structures. Her seriousness and dedication to music were deeply inspiring.

The two years have been an incredibly educational experience for me. I experienced the program as very holistic, grounded in human needs. It recognizes the complexity of the musical experience and approaches it from multiple perspectives. My toolkit is overflowing and I am excited to use these tools in my upcoming musical adventures.”

As you can see, Rabih Lahoud is excited to join our Vocal Leadership weekend in March. 🤩🤩🤩 And so are we, because Lahoud is one of the most requested vocal coaches in Germany! He is the singer of the successful jazz band Masaa which has released no less than six albums. In 2021 Lahoud won the German Jazz Award.

Lahoud’s passion is teaching diverse singing styles. In particular he researched in depth the topic of flow in vocal practice.
