ERIM PhD Impressions + Drinks on November 19, starting 5 PM at T3

"How can I be a happy successful PhD?"

Learn from the best! The PhD council organizes 'ERIM PhD Impressions' for us to share impressions, knowledge and ideas. This cross-disciplinary stage allows us to get valuable insight in the PhD life and how to succeed as a researcher. This is in line with the 2015-2016 theme 'crossing borders'.

We invited two excellent speakers to share their experience as researchers. There are two short presentations. There will also be room for some feedback and discussion and you are encouraged to ask whatever you like. Afterwards, we head towards De Smitse to have a nice drink as usual!

Speakers: Our two pilot speakers are Silviu Tierean (4th year PhD) and Stefano Tasselli (Assistant Professor).
When: Thursday November 19
Time: ERIM PhD Impressions starts 5PM / Drinks will follow around 6PM
Where: T3 / De Smitse!

Dear ERIM PhDs,

The New Year event is just round the corner. It will take place on the 22nd of January and will include a brewery tour at 'de Pelgrim' in Delfshaven and a delicious meal at Restaurant Bazar (see the attached invitation for details). For organisational purposes, please sign up at the Google Form below by the 12th of January and pay in cash to anyone of us or by bank transfer to the account stated on the sign-up page by the 20th of January.

Dear ERIM PhDs,

Today at 17:00 in room T3-30 we will hold our general assembly, where we will provide an overview of our activities of last year and where a new PhD council will be elected! We hope to see all of you at this event, as quorum is needed to elect a new PhD council.

Directly afterwards, we celebrate the instalment of a new council with free drinks at de Smitse for everyone who attended the general assembly! (Please note that you have to actually show up at the assembly if you want to enter the Smitse for free; otherwise you will need to pay the €10 entrance fee due to the Oktoberfest celebration!)

If you can't make it to the elections, then please nominate a fellow PhD candidate to act as your proxy to make your voice heard. Just send us an e-mail ([email protected]) in which you let us know who you would like to nominate as your proxy. Don't forget to CC him/her as well!

Join us at 'In de Smitse' (ground floor of the Mandeville / T building) this afternoon from 17:30-19:00. Meet your new colleagues and share your summer stories while enjoying a free drink (or two). Dear ERIM MPhils and PhDs,

De Smitse informed us that we cannot organize our monthly drinks tomorrow (May 21), as they planned a pubquiz/karaoke event (which requires a €5 entrance fee) on the same date. We have therefore decided to move the Social Drink to Thursday, May 22 (still from 17:30 until 19:00 @ de Smitse). Our apologies for this last-minute change in the schedule, and we still hope to see many of you there!

Today is an important day, which is why we feel we should remind you: there's FREE DRINKS at 'In de Smitse' from 17:30 until 19:00! Please join your fellow colleagues for the monthly social drink and discuss all the important things in life. Or don't discuss them... as long as you join it's all good!

Oh and PhDs: help us to help you, and take a couple of minutes to fill out the brief survey we sent around last Monday. People who fill out our survey are *awesome* (seriously: ask the ones who did!).
