There’s just a few days left to decide who takes home this year’s RSM Distinguished Alumni Awards. From innovators driving circular economies to volunteers building community worldwide, your vote celebrates alumni making real impact.

Voting closes THIS SATURDAY at noon CET.

Our final category is the Force for Positive Change award, where we recognise alumni for their work in a different UN Sustainable Development Goal. This year, the award will acknowledge an alum who is initiating and leading action to encourage more sustainable cities and communities in line with SDG 11.

This year’s nominees are:

- Bart Bergmans
Bart Bergmans (EMBA, 2017) exemplifies the spirit of the UN’s SDG 11 – making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable – through his commitment to sustainable innovation in housing and urban infrastructure.

- Denisa Kasa
Denisa Kasa (IBA, 2021; MSc BIM, 2023) has been nominated for the Force for Positive Change Award by the RSM Alumni Relations Team for volunteering to raise awareness of ecocide in the rivers of Albania, growing and financing a network that campaigns against pollution and cleans up its rivers.

- Philip Groeneveld
Philip Groeneveld (MSc BA, 2021) is driving large-scale sustainability in the Dutch energy system by combining strategic vision with hands-on ex*****on to connect industry, government, and society. Turning complex energy challenges into actionable, investable solutions is down to his leadership, impact, and ability to bridge vision with results.

There’s still time to vote in the Distinguished Alumni Awards

Every year, we celebrate alumni through awards in three categories. Next – the Alumni Volunteering Award recognises alumni volunteers who share their time or resources to contribute to the school’s reputation, research, education, and student experience, or help promote alumni relations.

This year’s nominees are:

- Aditya Sharma
Aditya Sharma (MSc MiM, 2018) is a Global Data Foods Analyst for Unilever and an enthusiastic mentor for RSM students, with 118 career consultations under his belt – more than any other alumni volunteer. He has been nominated by the RSM Alumni Relations Team as ‘a great and engaged alumni mentor’.

- Ceren Danis
Fintech CEO Ceren Danis (MSc FI, 2018) champions inclusion and innovation to amplify opportunities for women and minorities in payments. She works to highlight how product, regulation, and DEI intersect to build better financial technology by leading with generosity and authenticity, and by empowering others.

- David Catanho
David Catanho (MBA, 2022) is Sustainability Transformation Manager for AkzoNobel and volunteers in academia for RSM and for education institutions in Portugal. His department hosted a team in the MBA programme’s annual Living Management Project. Students appreciated his efforts and his mentorship – and could see the impact of his initiatives on the whole value chain.

- Stefanie Eimesser
“The impact we can create when we work together” drives Stefanie Eimesser (MSc MM, 2013) to build a thriving alumni community in NYC. As Alumni Chapter Leader, she inspires meaningful connections – leading with empathy and creating opportunities for others to grow, belong, and thrive.

Voting in the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Awards is now open!

Every year, we celebrate alumni through awards in three categories. First – the Alumni Achievement Award acknowledges alumni who are a force for positive change in business or society. This can be as a part of a corporate community, as an entrepreneur, or as an individual whose life mission is to improve the lives of others or to protect or improve the environment.

This year’s nominees are:
Gloria Marin-Querol
Gloria Marin-Querol (IBA, 2019) co-founded Seven Hills Foundation to empower vulnerable children in Naguru Slums in Uganda through education, play, life skills, and vocational training.

Jan Baan
Jan Baan (IBA, 2014; MSc FI, 2016) joined a family firm and invested in his own growth. In 2022, aged just 28, he was ready to lead Omoda’s transformation into a larger fashion retailer, tripling its business with an entrepreneurial, omnichannel approach.

Vincent de Wildt
With an impressive international career in wealth management, Vincent de Wildt (MBA/Master Financial Management, 2014), has become a role model for responsible leadership in European private banking through his strong focus on transparency, innovation, integrity, and people-first leadership style.

We’ve dived into our archives again, and look at the gems we’ve found! Did you know that...:
.. the very first RSM building wasn’t at all at campus? 🤔 RSM was established in 1970, initially operating out of an elegant villa in Kralingen, a beloved suburb in Rotterdam... exams at our university have changed a lot over the years? Once in Theil, Van der Goot and even Ahoy, and now in the old sports building on campus. With more study options, there are a ton more exams happening, and let’s not forget the transition from paper to laptop-based exams reflecting the shift of digitalization. 🧑‍💻.. when Woudestein Campus opened in 1968, buildings were identified by letters in alphabetical order? 🏫 In 2012, faculty deans named the buildings, which is why the names don’t match the original letter designations.

If you are interested in more history of our school, check out the timeline in Mandeville Building or see the link in our bio!
